Different pages[edit]

Hi, Johan. Do we talk about wiki pages or pdf pages? Meaning, 5000 pages (articles or another namespaces) in wiki, or 5000 A4 ( :-) ) pages in the result? IKhitron (talk) 23:36, 10 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Good question. I didn't write the item. I assumed wiki pages, but that might not be the case. Ping Dirk Hünniger. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 01:00, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, it does not mean 5000 articles. It means pages in PDF. That is the number of sheets your printer prints if you ask it to print the pdf single sided. The limit is actually just an estimate. The real limiting factor is just runtime, which is set to 12 hours. But 5000 pages is roughly what you can get with 12 hours runtime. Still if the articles are short enough, you might even get 5000 articles in one PDF. Furthermore there is also a command line version freely available as an official Debian package that does not have and such limit, and where you can get as large PDFs as you wish. Still I am sure that PDFs with more than 5000 are rarely useful. Dirk Hünniger (talk) 07:03, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
