Pre-string-freeze questions[edit]

I feel this one is at a rougher stage than the previous couple ones, mainly because of the jargon. I had to look up almost every single one, and even after reading the linked pages I’m still not sure I understood everything correctly.

Specific question about sitelinks to redirects: The item asks people for feedback. Where is the feedback supposed to go? The talk page of the candidate policy/guideline?

(I’m not sure how many people would understand “sitelinks to redirects”. I did not understand it. After reading the Phabricator ticket and looking through Wikidata I think I know what this is. This is about linking a Wikidata item to a redirect page, correct?) Al12si (talk) 18:18, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Al12si Thanks for the comment.
For your questions: Yes to both.
For potential improvements to the entries, do you have any suggestions, and/or does my attempt to improve the Wikidata entry here seem clearer? Thanks, Quiddity (WMF) (talk) 19:50, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Quiddity (WMF) Given this is still a draft, I’ve gone ahead and did some proposed edits. Do you think this works? Al12si (talk) 20:21, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Al12si Looks good! I've tweaked it slightly, partially so that the talkpage link is not the most eye-catching (link) part of it. Thanks again. Quiddity (WMF) (talk) 20:58, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Quiddity (WMF) I’ve made another proposed edit, to the item about Edit template data. Can you check if my understanding is correct?
Unrelated question: What does “talk page notices with full styling” mean? I guess my main question is: what are “talk page notices”? Al12si (talk) 21:31, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Al12si Seems good to me.
I believe "talk page notices" refers to any templates located at the top of talk pages. Different wikis have different standard ways of doing this, and different keywords editors might use (e.g. Some Enwiki people/docs refer to them as "banners"). I've tweaked it like so. Look good? @Quiddity (WMF) I just scanned the Phabricator ticket and made a proposed edit. Do you think this works better? Al12si (talk) 22:55, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Al12si Looks good to me. Thanks again. I will freeze it in ~1 hour. Quiddity (WMF) (talk) 22:59, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
