Broken[edit]

Tech/News/Latest used to take me directly to the latest tech news as it should. That's broken now ending up on some special "my language" soft redirect. Please revert with extreme prejudice, any language with a "latest" roughly matching en:latest will do for my purposes. –Be..anyone (talk) 09:28, 22 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Ата and Guillaume (WMF): Thoughts? Jdforrester (WMF) (talk) 16:10, 22 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Be..anyone, Jdforrester (WMF): My guess would be that redirects don't work when they point to special pages (to prevent abuse). I've restored the version without the prefix. Guillaume (WMF) (talk) 16:36, 22 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, works again. –Be..anyone (talk) 01:40, 23 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Transclusion[edit]

Maybe a stupid idea/question: How about a transclusion (some #ifexist: magic to determine the newest news) instead of a redirect for less manual maintenance? No call for action, I'd (try to) implement it if it's a good idea. –Be..anyone (talk) 03:01, 21 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

How about changing the code to #REDIRECT Tech/News/2024/17? This way there's no need to change the week number every week as it will change automatically. --Stryn (talk) 19:16, 25 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Stryn obviously meant changing the code to:
#REDIRECT [[Tech/News/{{CURRENTYEAR}}/{{CURRENTWEEK}}]]
However, I have in the past tried making a redirect with a variable like that, and even though it looked like intended in preview, the saved redirect didn't work. --Pipetricker (talk) 14:55, 3 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
