Very interesting approach[edit]

@Aafi & @Raydann:  found this approach very interesting. While #100Wikidays is a successful effort, it is more suitable for seasoned Wikimedians rather than newbies. The 500 edit challenge looks very promising in encouraging and retaining newbies. Congratulations and all the best.

I would like to learn about your approach to ensuring the quality of edits when newbies are writing in languages that lack the bandwidth to handle such issues, unlike larger Wikimedia projects that have them. Are you planning to combine this with other efforts to help address this? Pavan Santhosh Surampudi (talk) 08:41, 23 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Pavan santhosh.s, Thank you. Currently, we do not have any newbies who would be specifically contributing on non-English language projects. We are only focusing on Wikimedia Commons and English Wikipedia unless we prepare a set of editors who are somewhat experienced in the wiki world. We ensure that the offline live demonstrations that we give to these newbies are understood correctly. The best in this that you can find is that most of the edits from these newbies includes an edit summary about what they did in a given edit.
For the second question, I am certain that DCW-at large, and Wiki Club Jamia (since it originates from DCW's Leadership Development Program] would want to combine with other efforts to help achieve quality. WCJ's guiding principle is: Evaluate, Iterate and Adapt. I hope this answers your question. ─ The Aafī (talk) 14:24, 23 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Realistic and promising plan, @TheAafi! Especially, Combining English Wikipedia's capacity to ensure quality with good offline live demonstrations is a good strategy. These efforts, considering the necessity to ideate and innovate in the space of improving our outreach and retention strategies, are very crucial. I'm happy to learn and help wherever I can.
