Text answer[edit]

Hello - where can I find the text of the candidates' answers? I am quite interested to know their views but I am not going to spend an hour watching videos. Much easier to read written answers. Thanks! Chris Keating (The Land) (talk) 15:15, 23 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi @The Land, unfortunately, there are no transcripts available, as far as I can tell. The closest I've found are the captions for the videos. Go to a video on Commons, then click "TimedText" at the top and select English (example). It's no substitute for a real transcript, though, since the caption formatting makes it difficult to read, and you wouldn't be able to tell who's actually saying what without checking on the video.
There is a page for text answers to all of the questions that were posed on Meta. All of the candidates except one have refused to answer questions there, however.
I agree that text is more convenient (among other advantages) than videos. I complained about this in the run-up to the voting ([1][2][3]). Someone even raised your exact point during the call for feedback earlier this year, but here we are. Maybe the people running the election secretly agree that videos aren't the best medium, though, since they didn't bother to mention them when announcing the start of voting. @The Land: There are now transcripts on the full question page, based off the video captions. (Thanks to HLHJ and Pppery.) Emufarmers (talk) 15:51, 31 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Discrepancies between statements and the closed captioning[edit]

There are a few instances where the closed captioning does not accurately reflect the spoken statements of the candidates. How and where should such discrepancies be reported? 71.204.166.188 08:18, 24 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

You can fix the captions yourself: example. They're not protected, so you shouldn't need an account to edit them. Emufarmers (talk) 19:17, 24 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
