Talk:Wikiversity/Logo/archive-vote-4

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Aargh! Most people voting so far have not specified the logo (singular) that they prefer. Should we not simply start this round again with no groupings (ie simply name every logo by a discreet number/letter) and start this round again - allocating the clear votes to the specific version and contacting the people who have not specified to do so again? Cormaggio @ 13:09, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Since the logo that will be the result of this final vote *will* have to refined regardless of which one it is (either because it needs to get more distinct colours, or just generally because *every* Wikimedia logo underwent some refinement after being chosen; just think of the Wikipedia logo and what it's original version looked like), I thought it wouldn't make too much sense to pick between variants only differing in *EXTREMELY* minor details. (Really, there's hardly any difference between the variants of A or between the two variants in C, and even the difference in B is nothing to write home about.) —Nightstallion (?) 15:15, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
When I first looked at the page I didn't scroll all the way down. I was in a rush and didn't at first see that all the other logos for voting were down below :( Luckily I found them and voted for the last one. That is a logo I would wear on a t-shirt.

B3[edit]

Will option B3, also known as the Great Dome, need to have its colors changed? It's just blue, after all... – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 21:14, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Frankly, I do not know; that would be up to our marketing department, I'd say... —Nightstallion (?) 13:54, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Forget B3; what's wrong with Wikimedia colors period? They look fine in all the As and B4. I think it looks good to have them like they were designed. having the colors makes the project seems unified and coherent.--HereToHelp (talk) 19:53, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Signatures[edit]

We've had a few votes cast without logging in or providing any username:

Except for the last one, these voters at least signed their votes with an IP address, so perhaps they do have accounts but forgot to log in. Should we count these votes? – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 21:50, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In the last rounds, I discounted them. I accept pretty much any kind of link to any kind of account, but IPs are simply contrary to the most basic requirement of proving one has an account, isn't it? However, my discounting those votes hasn't change the decision in any case up to now, and I don't expect it will do so in this case, either... —Nightstallion (?) 16:50, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"colours will have to be changed to non-Wikimedia colours"[edit]

Can someone please explain what that means and why it's necessary? 217.13.201.49 07:34, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedia colors are the the dark colors of red, green and blue you see on the Wikimedia Foundation logo. As you can see, many logo candidates use the same color theme. See Talk:Wiktionary/logo#Changing_colors for detailed discussions.--朝彦 (Asahiko) 08:11, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
