Spam

Thanks for the report. If it is an aspect of the project that interests you then you should be aware of the work of the COI bot. It actually picked up the one you did & reported it here. Hoi Ed, ik zag dat je ook op andere projecten spam terugdraait. Als je interesse hebt in het tegengaan van cross wiki spam kijk dan even op Spam blacklist/help. Op External links policy proberen we een uitleg te geven over wat cross wiki spam inhoudt. In ieder geval bedankt voor je melding op Talk:Spam blacklist. Reports

Hoi, zou je bij het sluiten van een bot report willen aangeven welke actie je hebt ondernomen? Het is natuurlijk ook mogelijk om de wijzigingen gewoon te laten staan. In de meeste gevallen kun je de wijzigingen echter terugdraaien. Ik laat de wijzigingen normaliter enkel staan als de site echt zinvol of belangrijk is. Als dat niet het geval is, vind ik het plaatsen van de link op meerdere projecten reden genoeg om het terug te draaien. Groet, Erwin(85) 19:52, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Heb je tools:~erwin85/xwiki.php al ontdekt? Het laat de status van een COIBot, SpamreportBot of XWiki report zien. De tool wordt gelinkt met een vraagteken achter het rapport in {{linksummary}}, mits dat rapport bestaat. Bijvoorbeeld:

Ik gebruikte deze tool nog niet, bedankt voor de tip! Dit is heel handig. De Toolserver lijkt tenminste weer te draaien, dat scheelt een hoop. Als ik die autoremove feauture gebruik, moet ik dan de hele tekst van User:Mike.lifeguard/removespam.js kopiëren of alleen daar naar linken? (zo ja, hoe doe ik dit?) Dit script moet je op elk project in je monobook.js plaatsen. Je kunt daarom het beste even een centrale pagina aanmaken waarin je naar dat script linkt, bijvoorbeeld User:EdBever/global.js. Dit kun je doen door daar onderstaande code in te voegen:

vervolgens moet je op elk project dan je eigen pagina invoegen in Special:Mypage/monobook.js:

Het voordeel hiervan is dat je dan die centrale pagina kunt bewerken en enkel als je een project voor het eerst bezoekt daar je monobook.js hoeft aan te passen. Zelf gebruik ik User:Erwin/remote.js. Zie bijvoorbeeld w:ne:User:Erwin/monobook.js. --Erwin(85) 09:23, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Meestal is het inderdaad allemaal troep. Helaas. Al kan dat natuurlijk ook betekenen dat de bots goed zijn afgesteld. Als ik tips heb, zal ik ze zeker laten weten. Ik zag net in ieder geval dat spamsearch ten onrechte aangaf dat er geen links waren. Ik heb het even aangekaart op User_talk:Nixeagle#Spamsearch. Mijn tool vond namelijk nog wel links, maar die zoekt enkel op projecten opgenomen in een bot report. Het is dus geen vervanging van spamsearch. (Al check ik meestal alleen of de gerapporteerde wijzigingen zijn teruggedraaid. Links op andere pagina's vallen dan wel op, maar links op andere projecten niet.) --Erwin(85) 18:42, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Zou je voortaan de samenvatting willen invullen? Zeker als je wilt dat het wordt toegevoegd aan de blacklist. Als je blacklisten niet nodig vindt, mag je een rapport gewoon sluiten. Als je twijfelt, kun je het natuurlijk open laten zodat anderen hun mening kunnen geven. --Erwin(85) 11:01, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks Herby. It never hurts to help... I have been vandalfighting on nl: for a long time and this is something else. I still have a lot to learn about the finesses of when to block and when not to block. I learn a lot from Mike, Erwin and you through the final decisions you guys make. In due course I might request sysop rights. I already have a request pending for global rollback since that seems to make reverting more efficient. EdBever 15:32, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

BL issues

Hi Ed, again thanks for your work. If you are in a hurry for a disruptive site to be added you are welcome to try me on Commons (here). My editing is intermittent however I do tend to be around from around 8:00 UTC till maybe 18:00 UTC from time to time. I know it isn't very helpful but I would certainly always do what I can (my time is restricted at present & will be very restricted in December & January I'm afraid). Recent reports

Hoi, ik heb net de URLs niet toegevoegd, omdat het meeste redelijk oud was. Als er één nieuwe wijziging van een ander IP-adres is, vind ik het niet nodig om te blacklisten. Neemt niet weg dat als we er eerder bij waren geweest we ze wel hadden moeten blacklisten. Na een paar dagen ga ik er meestal van uit dat blacklisten zinloos is. Het speelt ook mee dat deze blacklist niet alleen op Foundation-projecten wordt gebruikt. Ik ben daarom vrij terughoudend. Groet, Erwin(85) 10:19, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

I don't think you moved too fast. When you closed it there were half as many reported edits, so I think you did the right thing by not listing it then. --Erwin 18:19, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

When you closed it there were only 6 additions, when I blacklisted there were 4 more. I thought about closing it too, but then I looked at the nature of the site and I realized this was more than just a site about a local event. It's a commercial site directed at foreign visitors with the intent to sell stays in hotelrooms. The commercial bit made me blacklist it. So, like Erwin, I think you did the right thing. Wowhead

Hi, can you review these comments on your addition of Wowhead.com to the spam blacklist? Per that page if you only have one site being affected the blacklist of that site should be the only one changed, not the central blacklist affecting most wikis (including many World of Warcraft-based wikis). If more sites are getting spammed then its probably better warranted but I would be more keen to block the specific profiles being spammed as Wowhead is completely a legitimate site that doesn't use spambots to advertise itself.
