Unclear message[edit]

This message is very unclear. Does writing clearly help? For instance this passage «not is something». Even after reading twice, I can't understand whether the message implies an urgency to import or to stop importing files from local wikis to Commons, or what. --Nemo 06:57, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Nemo bis and Johan (WMF): this is the original version:

Commons has deprecated GFDL-only as a license for photos, paintings, drawings, audio and video starting 15 October. Textbooks, manuals and logos, diagrams and screenshots that were extracted from a GFDL software manual are still allowed. GFDL dual-licensing with an accepted license like Creative Commons BY-SA is still allowed.

There is no time limit to move files from other projects to Commons: the licensing date is all that counts, not the upload or creation date. Projects that allow local uploads should check bots, scripts and templates that are used to move files to Commons. Local image policy documentation should be adjusted to inform users. The choice to (dis)allow GFDL-only licensed media is one that all projects allowing local uploads can make for themselves. Such files (when not covered by the exemptions) licensed on or after 15 October should not be moved to Commons.

Johan had simplified some parts because not everyone will get a translation. I'll take another look. Alexis Jazz (talk) 13:30, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I just took a stab at simplifying it further. Better now? /Johan (WMF) (talk) 13:32, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Johan (WMF): I just took another stab. I think it's even more clear now. Alexis Jazz (talk) 14:05, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Nemo bis: I was writing this but Johan was first.
This has been posted here because your wiki allows local file uploads. Please help translate to your language.
Commons will no longer allow uploads of photos, paintings, drawings, audio and video that use the GFDL license and no other license. This starts after 14 October. Textbooks, manuals and logos, diagrams and screenshots from GFDL software manuals that only use the GFDL license are still allowed. Files licensed with both GFDL and an accepted license like Creative Commons BY-SA are still allowed.
There is no time limit to move files from other projects to Commons. The licensing date is all that counts. It doesn't matter when the file was uploaded or created. Every wiki that allows local uploads should check if bots, scripts and templates that are used to move files to Commons need to be updated. Also update your local policy documentation if needed.
The decision to allow files that only have a GFDL license, or not allow them, is a decision all wikis can make for themselves. Your wiki can decide to continue allowing the files that Commons will no longer allow after 14 October. But if your wiki does, those files should not be moved to Commons. — Alexis Jazz, distributed by Johan using MassMessage
I'm not a simple English or basic English for translation writer.. body water (sweat) and up-goers (rockets) make my head not clear (confuse me). Alexis Jazz (talk) 13:51, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Nemo bis: is it better now? Alexis Jazz (talk) 12:45, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This has now been distributed. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 18:11, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
