Thanks[edit]

Thanks for the heads up. We already wanted to block this IP range, but now I just protected Help:Searching. If that won't work, I'll seriously think of blocking the whole NC range. Thanks for the info once again. Datrio 17:33, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hey man, how's it going? Your userpage is seriously out of date. Makemi 01:01, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Uh, yes indeedie. Been a while since I've been here ... :-/ Antandrus 20:18, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

2016 Community Wishlist Survey[edit]

Hi,

You’re getting this message because you participated in the 2015 Community Wishlist Survey and we want to make sure you don't miss it this year – or at least can make the conscious choice to ignore if it you want to. The 2015 survey decided what the Community Tech team should work on during 2016. It was also the focus of Wikimedia hackathons and work by other developers. You can see the status of wishes from the 2015 wishlist at 2015 Community Wishlist Survey/Results.

The 2016 Community Wishlist Survey is now open for wishes. You can create proposals until November 20. You will be able to vote on which wishes you think are best or most important between November 28 and December 12. /Johan (WMF) (talk) via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 11:17, 14 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

JSTOR account redistribution (The Wikipedia Library)[edit]

Hi - according to our records you received a free account for JSTOR through The Wikipedia Library. Because we’ve used up all of our allocated accounts, and it’s been some time since they were distributed, we want to redistribute any accounts that aren’t being used to users on our waitlist.

If you’re still using, or plan to use, your JSTOR access, no problem! Simply head over to the Library Card platform, log in, and request a renewal of your account. You should be able to do this from your user page, or the JSTOR signup page. If you can’t find the renewal button, or have any other issues or questions about this, please feel free to leave a message on my talk page. We’ll begin redistributing inactive accounts in September; if you request renewal after then we will only be able to reactivate your account if we have spots remaining. Thanks, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:32, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Something about WMF-banned editor[edit]

This editor [1] (that was the last IP we know) is trying to log in on the accounts of everyone that gets him/her on the way. Can WMF take some action? Kubura (talk) 19:50, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I would sure like to do more -- WMF has banned him from editing any project (he is this guy). He spent almost three years in jail for harassing people online, and still does it. Everything bad he does, he accuses other people of doing, with eerie precision. Antandrus (talk) 20:21, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Here he is again, under the name [2] No edits in any wikispace, but he sends insulting e-mails. Is there a page on Meta where we can report his accounts and IP's? Kubura (talk) 23:52, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yes, him again -- looks like he's now globally banned as of a couple hours ago. The place to report him is Steward_requests/Global; if you look before it is archived you will see a subsection for "GRP" -- that's exactly how I report him (you can find numerous examples in my edit history). Invitation for Functionary consultation 2021[edit]

Greetings SWMT member,

I'm letting you know in advance about a meeting I'd like to invite you to regarding the Universal Code of Conduct and the community's ownership of its future enforcement. I'm still in the process of putting together the details, but I wanted to share the date with you: 10 July, 2021. I do not have a time on this date yet, but I will let you soon. We have created a meta page with basic information. Please take a look at the meta page and sign up your name under the appropriate section.

Thank you for your time.--BAnand (WMF) 03:21, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but…[edit]

I have recently been blocked from enwiki for the fifth time. I was stated as being block for supposed "trolling", but the block said that any admin could unblock me without contacting the original admin if they think I am acting in good faith. If you look at my global contributions I hope that you could see that I am acting in good faith. I would like if you could review my editing and (hopefully) unblock me. Thanks. Ilovemydoodle (talk) 20:57, 23 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ilovemydoodle - I understand how frustrating that can be. It's not a good look if one of your wiki-friends unblocks you. Really. I would recommend looking for a place where you can apply your talents usefully, and non-controversially. Wikimedia has lots of projects. Antandrus (talk) 03:17, 24 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I since the beginning (of this account) I have primarily edited on en.wq, but I was actively working on fixing something on Wikipedia when I got blocked.
P.S. Please ping me when you reply. – Ilovemydoodle (talk) 07:01, 24 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I still don't understand what edits were considered "trolling" and what they even mean by "trolling". Every time I ask, I just get the answer "look through your edits carefully", but I still don't see any "trolling". – Ilovemydoodle (talk) 00:22, 30 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also, being blocked limit other capabilities (e.g. Wikipedia Library [which can also be important for other projects], voting in elections, etc.). – Ilovemydoodle (talk) 06:31, 30 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I can on Wikipedia, the main problem is not my article contributions, but my contributions to discussions. I think I could avoid this by practicing a 'reply only' rule, meaning that I only participate in a discussion if:
  1. Someone else asks me directly,
  2. Someone else changes or reverts one of my edits, or
  3. I need help to do something that could figure out on my own.
I also think temporarily practicing 1RR would help too. – Ilovemydoodle (talk) 05:45, 2 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Update on GRP[edit]

I have discovered his home IP, full name, what is likely his website, and his YouTube channel. Could I put this on his LTA profile? (when I am unblocked, which won't be long) – Ilovemydoodle (talk) 21:23, 31 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I would advise not doing that. While he has no reasonable expectation of privacy given that he frequently uses his own name - typically in third person while pretending to be someone else - that would violate Wikimedia's privacy policy in ways that could compromise our efforts against him. (I already know those details, btw, as does the WMF.) He has more than one YT channel and also has multiple social media profiles, but I'll leave it there.
