Renewal[edit]

I have requested a JSTOR renewal. Thanks!Zigzig20s (talk) 13:33, 20 August 2018 (UTC)

I should have asked for renewal as well, I left some recent uses in the description. Currently I use JSOTR to send information for deletion procedures and the WikiWomen edit-a-thons, but that's mostly in the last year. In any case, I have been using it here and there on wikimedia platforms. i support however a rationalization of the accounts, when i have requested it I pointed out how in my local communities many of the users having this log in access did not share a lot of information, or were mostly involved in maintenance and not content-related activites--Alexmar983 (talk) 13:43, 20 August 2018 (UTC)

JSTOR redistribution[edit]

Thanks for the talk page message. Unfortunately I don't have much time to use the JSTOR account for article creation at the moment, so please do feel free to redistribute it as soon as you would like (I hope to apply again when I have more time, but that might be a while!). Cheers! --YodinT 13:41, 20 August 2018 (UTC)

@Yodin: Thanks for letting me know! As far as I understand your JSTOR account will remain active, it will just lose the subscription-only areas. When you want your account reactivated, assuming we have open positions, it can simply have that access reinstated :) Samwalton9 (WMF) (talk) 13:43, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
I'm in a similar position. I requested that when I was working in some particular area and I changed focus. I'm fine with it being redistributed to a more deserving editor.--Sphilbrick (talk) 13:46, 20 August 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for the notice! I have JSTOR access through my work account, so you can redistribute mine. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 13:47, 20 August 2018 (UTC)

Hi Sam,
I currently have institutional JSTOR access and do not require the free account provided for me as a Wikipedian. Please give it to someone else, and I'll stand back in line for it when the day comes. Thanks! ליאור • Lior (talk) 13:50, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
  • I clicked on the renewal button on my profile, but I only got this message: "Renewals are either not required, not available right now, or you have already requested a renewal." What to do? FunkMonk (talk) 14:00, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
Oh, cool! FunkMonk (talk) 14:12, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
I've discovered as a Yale alumnus I've got access, so don't need the free account. Doug Weller (talk) 14:14, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
Doug Weller Yale? My sympathies.--SarekOfVulcan (talk) 20:17, 29 August 2018 (UTC)

No renewal required[edit]

Thank you very much for the reminder. I am very grateful to the Wikimedia Foundation for the opportunity to use JSTOR. Now it's time for me to step aside and give way to other users. Please count my JSTOR account as inactive and feel free to redistribute it to someone else. Best regards, --Vitalie Ciubotaru (talk) 14:06, 20 August 2018 (UTC)

Never got access to JSTOR account[edit]

Although I had been granted access to JSTOR through Wikipedia Library, I never actually got the access to JSTOR account. After initial approval I had emailed Nikkimaria who was dealing with the issue. But I never heard back from her. I could never log in since I never got the requisite credentials. Feel free to redistribute the account I never had access to. Diptanshu 💬 14:26, 20 August 2018 (UTC)

@Diptanshu Das: Sorry to hear that. If you 'renew' your account we can make sure you get your account this time around, if you still want it. Samwalton9 (WMF) (talk) 15:16, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
@Samwalton9 (WMF): Thanks for the offer, but I would not like to renew the account. Diptanshu 💬 14:12, 21 August 2018 (UTC)

I had the same problem as @Diptanshu Das:, never heard back from the responsible person. Feel free to redistribute the account; maybe they'll have more luck. --Ecelan (talk) 15:40, 20 August 2018 (UTC)

JSTOR Renewal issues[edit]

Thank-you for inviting me to apply for renewal of access to JSTOR. My situation is that I wrote sometime ago to give up the JSTOR access which I enjoyed via Wikipedia, because I was offered JSTOR access via an alumni organisation. As it turns out, the alternative level of access isn't so good, so I would prefer to have Wikipedia access again, if possible.--Thoughtfortheday (talk) 16:45, 20 August 2018 (UTC)

@Thoughtfortheday: No problem at all - if the library card platform is giving you the option to renew, go ahead and do that. If not, feel free to make a fresh application. :) Samwalton9 (WMF) (talk) 16:46, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
Thanks. The library card platform seems to be letting me make a renewal application.--Thoughtfortheday (talk) 17:01, 20 August 2018 (UTC)

I have used and plan to use again JSTOR, but please give access to someone new, as I am not using it every month. When it is time, I will ask for access again or I will ask for someone else to help. Thank you for notifying me.--FocalPoint (talk) 17:29, 20 August 2018 (UTC)

Project MUSE access[edit]

Hi, a while ago I got access to Project MUSE but have misplaced my password and can't get in. Do you have a record of it or an ability to give me a link to set up a new one? Thanks. PS - Separately, I indicated on the other page that I wanted to renew for JSTOR access; it's very valuable for me.Parkwells (talk) 18:23, 20 August 2018 (UTC)

@Parkwells: I think I remember sending you your information, but I don't find it. Did I send it? Smmurphy (talk) 13:43, 14 September 2018 (UTC)

Renewal not required[edit]

Since my real content editing has slowed to almost nothing, please reclaim the JSTOR account allocated to me and allocate it to someone else. Quondum (talk) 20:51, 20 August 2018 (UTC)

JSTOR account renewal errors[edit]

Hello!

I've got a message prompting me to renew my JSTOR account by visiting "user page" which returned an error, asking me to email about it which i did. The alternative renewal link was "JSTOR signup page" where i couldn't find any renewal options. The last resort was to leave message on your talks page, which i'm doing now. Hope it would have any effect. Sincerely, --Akim Dubrow (talk) 12:05, 21 August 2018 (UTC)

Very odd. I've replied to your email. If anyone else gets this issue please let me know. Samwalton9 (WMF) (talk) 12:51, 21 August 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I also got an error

Access token generation failed.
Permission denied
Sorry; you aren't allowed to do that.

Bennylin 01:51, 22 August 2018 (UTC)

@Bennylin: Akim was able to solve the situation by going to the homepage and making sure they were logged in, before navigating to their user page. Can you try that? Samwalton9 (WMF) (talk) 09:58, 22 August 2018 (UTC)

JSTOR message[edit]

Hi. I saw [1] at my talk page. I honestly don't remember ever asking for it and any of my subscriptions in the Wikipedia Library can be revoked/re-allocated. --B (talk) 17:31, 22 August 2018 (UTC)

I received a similar message, and had considered it previously expired after a year. In any case, I have gained alternative access to this great resource, and will give up mine so another can gain access to JSTOR, for the benefit of the project. CasualObserver'48 (talk)CasualObserver'48

Hi Sam, I can likewise afford to relinquish my JSTOR access via Wikipedia. Fayenatic london (talk) 20:56, 22 December 2018 (UTC)

Re: JSTOR account redistribution[edit]

Hi Samwalton9! Thanks for your message about JSTOR account redistribution. Please, feel free to assign my JSTOR account to someone who need it. Best regards, Maestro Ivanković (talk) 18:41, 4 September 2018 (UTC)

How do I put an application?[edit]

Sam,

sadly my access to BMJ was revoked (to waitlist, I suppose), but I'd like to get an APA's PsychiatryOnline access "card". But how do I put an application? Wikipedia Library's page isn't helping... Thanks, --Akim Dubrow (talk) 11:25, 8 September 2018 (UTC)

@Akim Dubrow: Apologies for the confusion, the waitlist is only for new applications but you still get the email even though we've now approved your renewal request! You can apply for APA here. Samwalton9 (talk) 08:30, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
Many-many thanks, Sam, you're great! =) But how the hell someone gets here or to any other source provider application? Smiles, --Akim Dubrow (talk) 12:21, 11 September 2018 (UTC)
@Akim Dubrow: There's a full list at this page :) Samwalton9 (WMF) (talk) 13:33, 11 September 2018 (UTC)

Interested in Outreach Dashboard Admin ship[edit]

Hi Sam, trust you are good. I contribute to English and Yoruba Wikipedia. At the moment the dashboard doesnt support our Yoruba Wikipedia project and i will be glad if that is possible.Olaniyan Olushola (talk) 08:34, 3 November 2018 (UTC)

@Olaniyan Olushola: Thanks for signing up for adminship! We'll be approving the first group of users next week. I believe the tool should be able to track edits to the Yoruba Wikipedia no problem. Are you referring to translating the tool? If so, that can be done on Translatewiki :) Samwalton9 (WMF) (talk) 11:49, 7 November 2018 (UTC)
am aware of translating tools. That's is not what I meant Olaniyan Olushola (talk) 12:41, 7 November 2018 (UTC)
@Olaniyan Olushola: Could you clarify what about the tool doesn't support the Yoruba Wikipedia at the moment? There are instructions for enabling automatic edits to the project here, is that what you're referring to? Samwalton9 (talk) 15:18, 7 November 2018 (UTC)

Help to access JSTOR account[edit]

As per this link I have been approved for renewal of my free JSTOR account. Where can I find details of the JSTOR website, login and password please. I have had chemo recently and can't recall my previous details. AshLin (talk) 12:40, 18 November 2018 (UTC)

@AshLin: We don't hold details of your JSTOR username/email/password, however the email we sent to them is the one linked to your Wikimedia account. Can you try logging in via that email, resetting your password if necessary? You can do so at https://www.jstor.org/action/showLogin :) Samwalton9 (WMF) (talk) 10:45, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
Thank you @Samwalton9 (WMF):. Your advice worked. I now have restored access to my JSTOR account. AshLin (talk) 13:04, 14 December 2018 (UTC)

P&E Dashboard admin training[edit]

Hello. I have just seen admin features have been turned on on the P&E Dashboard, and I was wondering whether we should be offered training as this is quite new. What do you think? Thanks. --Joalpe (talk) 00:01, 6 December 2018 (UTC)

@Joalpe: This is definitely possible! What training do you think you need, in addition to the existing dashboard admin training? Samwalton9 (WMF) (talk) 11:20, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
@Samwalton9 (WMF): Thanks for coming back to me. What I am thinking of is a tutorial on how the admin tools work (Recent Activity | Surveys | Campaigns | Analytics | Feedback | Alerts | Users), and what we are expected to do with them as admins. Thanks. --Joalpe (talk) 14:39, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
@Joalpe: That's fair - I spoke to Sage yesterday and we agreed the Admin interface is confusing and mostly not actually very useful to you. As such we've removed the link to /Admin from the navigation bar. You can still get to it at https://outreachdashboard.wmflabs.org/admin if there's something you need, but otherwise most of what we'd like you to help with is helping users with every day problems and editing their programs/courses where required. Most of what is available through /admin is either things we don't want to be used (like surveys), or simply lists of all users/edits/uploads. I'll get an email sent out today to you all outlining what kind of help would be appreciated :) Samwalton9 (WMF) (talk) 13:30, 14 December 2018 (UTC)
