Russian[edit]

Acronyms (i.e., GLAM)

Mostly, OK (GLAM, WMF)

Affiliate(s)

(important) The only translation into Russian is «организация Викимедиа» (singular) / «организации Викимедиа» (plural) (without quotations).

Board of Trustees

“Board of Trustees” = «Совет попечителей», in case of using simply “Board” in the original, they can use a similar translated version: «Совет»

Hyperlinked websites

OK

Strategy, or Strategy 2030

OK. Translated as «Стратегия» / «Стратегия–2030».

User:X

“User” must be translated as «участник», not as «пользователь» or «юзер».

Wiki Loves/Takes...

If there is a page of an initiative in Russian, they need to translate. If there is no Russian version, leave it in English.

Wikimedia

Translated as Викимедиа.

Wikimedia X

Since these are legal entities, quotation marks must be added when translating. Wikimedia Sverige = «Викимедиа Швеция», Wikimedia Deutschland = «Викимедиа Германия» etc.

Wikimedian

(important, Google translator translates this word incorrectly!) The only translation into Russian of Wikimedian is викимедист (викимедисты in plural)

Wikipedian

Wikipedian is википедист (википедисты); usually no problem

WMF

OK

X Committee

It’s better to translate; OK when it's shortened --Soul Train (talk) 20:44, 7 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
