Hi all!

The community vote of this year's Board Elections are close. As always voter mails will be sent out. To invite as many community members as possible in their native tongue your help is very much appreciated. While there are already plenty of translations we would appreciate you to check for languages still missing and to contribute translations for these.

The mails are short, just a bit about two times 200 words, a few minutes of work.

Your support is very important as it helps communities to learn about the election and to cast their vote.

Best, Denis Barthel (WMF)

(Movement Strategy and Governance)

Hello[edit]

Hello, about the blocking on the project tkwiki my one article was not properly created by the admin decided that spam, but after decided, removed the blocking. QRNKS (talk) 20:08, 30 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

@QRNKS okay I see.
Did you try to appeal the block?
I mean you should try to contact the blocking admin, apologize to them that it was merely a mistake and that such mistake is unlikely to happen in future. Add that you are so sorry. Because that block will affect your trust whenever you want to have a position on any Wikimedia project. Thank you. Tumbuka Arch (talk) 02:13, 31 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Unblocked Yes QRNKS (talk) 04:01, 31 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Great, next reply to my question on meta on your request as "unblocked and sorted" to make sure you are good to go. Tumbuka Arch (talk) 04:07, 31 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

I'm fully prepared, sorry, I wanted to know how the position is taken in all wikimedia QRNKS (talk) 06:14, 31 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

I am not getting you.
On meta here I said "can you say something about your block on tkwiki".
You did not answer say anything to it there yet.
So I am saying you should reply to it as "I am now unblocked" or whatever you can say because the question was asked before you were unblocked. This means everyone was willing to see your reply or what happened. Tumbuka Arch (talk) 06:21, 31 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

I was wondering if I should now? QRNKS (talk) 06:56, 31 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Sorry to bother you so much, I would like to request a global rollback so see small wiki projects need help, not which from different without the name of the member edits as vandalism, it is a fight last always, so think. QRNKS (talk) 07:02, 31 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Yes, you can request it here provided you will explain why you want the right of Global Rollback. It will take 5 days before they give you a right. This happens to everyone who requests it. Tumbuka Arch (talk) 07:10, 31 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

IP blocks[edit]

Hi Tumbuka Arch, regarding this discussion [1] I recommend reading en:WP:IPBLENGTH. With most IP addresses being dynamic, vandals/spamers will usually get new IP addresses within hours. Therefore issuing longer blocks does not help but might rather harm innocent editors, if they someday get the same IP addresss. Default for blocking IPs on Meta is 31 hours, default for blocking IPs on some other wikis is even less (e.g. dewiki: 6 hours). Johannnes89 (talk) 10:08, 25 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Johannnes89 Thank you for the helpful recommendation. I really appreciate. :) ---Tumbuka Arch (talk) 21:11, 25 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
