Hello, Wüstenspringmaus. Welcome to the Wikimedia Meta-Wiki! This website is for coordinating and discussing all Wikimedia projects. You may find it useful to read our policy page. If you are interested in doing translations, visit Meta:Babylon. You can also leave a note on Meta:Babel or Wikimedia Forum if you need help with something (please read the instructions at the top of the page before posting there). Also worthwhile acquainting yourself with the functions of global user pages. Happy editing!

please unblock

[edit]

Would you arrange to unblock me on Wikidata? I'm sure I'm not banned or blocked before yours on any WMF site. Weirdly it's not even possible to comment on the question at Wikidata. Please avoid using blocks in case of editorial debates among users. Besides, Switzerland isn't even in Germany. e (talk) 10:18, 15 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure if you are going about this in an optimal way.
If there is a user who repeatedly breaches WMF sites, blocking anybody who edits pages distantly related to Germany on Wikidata is not a good way. In most countries unauthorized access to computer systems isn't taken lightly. This is not game.
Also, there is another user whose low quality edits/references that banned user corrects. If both are affiliated and editing with the same GND, the issue should be referred to that organization.
To improve quality, both users (or whichever account remains unblocked) should be required to provide reliable references for their edits around here, not just repeat GND contributions when editing WMF sites.
I wouldn't care if it didn't extend beyond Germany, but the problem has grown beyond.
@EPIC: Thanks for your help. e 13:54, 15 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Wüstenspringmaus:: Thanks for the deblock. Would you also restore comments of mine you removed at the wiki? What are you thoughts on the other points? e 06:22, 17 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Global ban discussion notice on eswiki

[edit]

I'd just like to let you know that I've translated the notice you posted here. Regards, Xacaranda (talk) 18:07, 2 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Vanishing

[edit]

Why was my vanishing undone in just 2 minutes? Ratnahastin (talk) 01:46, 24 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Ratnahastin: Looks like Wüstenspringmaus is offline right now, so I'm happy to explain, but it might be a discussion better had off-wiki. As a result of the vanish/unvanish, though, you no longer have an email attached to your account. You can either reconnect that and contact me at Special:EmailUser/Tamzin, or email me directly at wikimedian(_AT_)tamz(_DOT_)in. I'll be online for the next ~2 hours. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe) 04:00, 24 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Join us for “Many Tongues, One Movement: Voices Across Languages”!

[edit]

Hello Wüstenspringmaus,

We’re excited to invite you to an inspiring global virtual gathering: the first Capacity Exchange Translat-a-thon.

Together with Language Diversity Hub, the Capacity Exchange (CapX) team will host its first Translation Marathon dedicated to ensuring linguistic equity in access to this amazing tool aimed to connect Wikimedians.
If you enjoy contributing to Wikimedia projects through translating and adapting content into different languages, this event is for you! Join us in the celebration of the multilingual spirit of the Wikimedia Movement at an event where communities that contribute in diverse languages will be able to share local knowledge and collaborate across borders.
Many Tongues, One Movement: Voices Across Languages

  • Date: December 6, 2025
  • Time: 12 PM (UTC) - Check the event page for your local timezone
  • Location: Online (Meta-Wiki + live session links)

If you can’t join the live event, you can still contribute to the translations! Edits will be counted for two weeks, until December 20th. And everyone who participates will receive a special badge to display on their CapX profiles.

Strengthen your collaboration through CapX
