Welcome to Meta!

[edit]

Hello, and welcome to the Wikimedia Meta-Wiki! This website is for coordinating and discussing all Wikimedia projects. You may find it useful to read our policy page. If you are interested in doing translations, visit Meta:Babylon. Currently, you are editing using an automatically created temporary account, and this account is valid for 90 days. You can continue to do so, as you are not required to log in to Meta-Wiki to read and edit pages; however, while using a temporary account, your username is automatically assigned and cannot be customized, and your IP address may be visible to users with the appropriate permissions. Logging in does not require any personal details, and there are many other benefits for logging in.

You can also leave a note on Meta:Babel (please read the instructions at the top of the page before posting there). If you would like, feel free to ask me questions on my talk page. Happy editing!

Good idea about participant data reporting

[edit]

Often it happens that some number of Wikimedia community volunteers participates in an important policy or governance process. Elections are one case, public calls for comment are another common example, and there are many other situations were data about the group is helpful.

You had a great proposal at Talk:Wikimedia Foundation elections/2022/Stats. I do not recall seeing anyone ever propose this, but in my view and now that I see it, it seems like an obvious solution to many concerns. You propose that there is a list of issues, data which inform the issues, and standard reporting of community characteristics. I like the idea! Thanks.

I am unsure where to go from here. The WMF board member who I think is most active in discussing future election reform is https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Shani_(WMF) if and when there was more to say about this or just a clear request, I think she would receive the feedback. I would support you if you approached her with your idea. Thoughts? Bluerasberry (talk) 17:29, 5 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
