Wikiwomen Mangaluru aims to encourage more women to become Wikipedia editors and also address the difficulties and challenges faced by women while contributing to Wikipedia and editing its pages. Women Wikipedians from Mangaluru and nearby locations will be interacting with each other. This will provide them an opportunity to learn about Wikipedia in a bias-free environment. Wikiwomen Mangaluru strives to bridge the Gender Gap in Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects. Mangaluru is home to many languages, out of which Tulu, Kannada and Konkani are the major languages. Wikiwomen Mangaluru focuses mainly on these language Wikipedias and other sister projects. Wikiwomen Mangaluru will be organising regular meetups and editathons to achieve its goals. This informal group is initiated by Dhanalakshmi .K. T in the year 2016 at Mangaluru.[1], [2]

Wiki Women for Women Wellbeing 2018

Wiki Women for Women Wellbeing 2018 (WWWW-2018) is a project aiming to create content related women health in Indian language Wikipedias. More details of the project are available in this page. WikiWomen Mangaluru is also taking part in this.

  • The project went on quite well in both Kannada and Tulu Wikipedias.
  • Kannada and Tulu editors took part enthusiastically in this project.
  • Kannada and Tulu editors did active participation in the editathons.
  • The statistics like number of editors, number of articles, etc. are available in the outreach dashboard page.
  • Both editathons were supported by Karavali Wikimedians User Group.
  • Shri Ramakrishna P.U. College, Mangaluru provided with PC lab facility for one editathon.
  • Alvas College, Moodabidire helped with PC lab for one editathon.
