Article list[edit]

Only articles from the list are counted, or the participants can write any articles about Yerevan? --Andreykor (talk) 13:01, 14 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As long as you list the article under your name in the participant list and as long as it has to do something with Yerevan it should be counting, I suppose. --Gereon K. (talk) 17:39, 14 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Gereon K. already answered the question :) You are free to write any article about Yerevan. But those articles which are not directly related to Yerevan and will be listed under participants' name, will not be counted.--Lilit (WM AM) (talk) 05:58, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Points[edit]

Should I count points by myself or this should be made by organizers/jury? --Visem (talk) 20:52, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

At the Finland challenge, where the design of this competition here is from, this was done by the UKBot: [1]. I cannot see any activity of a bot here yet. --Gereon K. (talk) 06:34, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Visem! Every participant should count his points by himself. After the contest is over, the jury will check it.--Lilit (WM AM) (talk) 10:56, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Lilit. One more question, in the example there are 35,507 bytes, but the points are 36 and not 35 or 35,5. How to count the points exactly? --Visem (talk) 15:49, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I interpret the example that way that everything after ...500 gets rounded up. So 35,499 is 35 points but 35,501 is 36 points. Am I right, Lilit? --Gereon K. (talk) 20:03, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you are right, Gereon K.. I have counted the second example points (article Silva Kaputikyan) wrongly. I corrected it.--Lilit (WM AM) (talk) 06:22, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for explanation. --Visem (talk) 09:38, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How bytes are counted? --Sebastian Wallroth (talk) 14:52, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I for example count the bytes that I contribute, and only those (and only when it's more than 500 bytes per article). --Gereon K. (talk) 22:55, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Is there a tool for counting bytes? Do you count the visible text or the source code? --Sebastian Wallroth (talk) 11:44, 24 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Lilit (WM AM): I have spotted this discussion just now; it looks like I was counting my points wrongly and counted points after every thousand bytes. I do not think that it would cause any trouble, I just wanted to indicate it. Regards, Bencemac (talk) 18:19, 9 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ararat[edit]

Is an article about mount Ararat eligible for this contest? --5.102.10.15 17:58, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Good question. It's not in Yerevan, it's not even in Armenia. But then again it can be seen from the city when it's good weather. --Gereon K. (talk) 22:54, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Winner(s)[edit]

I have a question regarding the selection of the winner(s). Will one user be selected among all the Wikipedias depending on the points scored (globally) or the winners will be 15 (not one for all the Wiki editions, but one per Wiki edition)? Thanks for the help! --5.102.10.15 10:53, 24 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! As it is stated in the "Prizes" section, we have chosen 15 most active language Wikipedias (those who have got the most points) from which we have chosen the editors who have got the most points - 1 editor from each Wikipedia.--Lilit (WM AM) (talk) 13:33, 19 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A question about an edit[edit]

Hi!

A major edit I've made earlier on an article is not counted and I can't understand why, because that specific text isn't reverted. So, should I count these 11,401 bytes or not?

Thanks! Pavlos1988 (talk) 19:26, 6 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I can't answer to this question because it isn't related to the contest. I guess that is a technical question related to the stats tool which you should address to the technical team. We have counted and checked the points the participants have stated under their user names.--Lilit (WM AM) (talk) 13:43, 19 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Articles added after the end of the edit-a-thon[edit]

Some articles were added after the end of the edit-a-thon (23:59 (CET UTC+01:00) July 15, 2018). I think they should not be counted. --Andreykor (talk) 07:46, 16 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I agree! Also, when will the final winners be announced? --Ruislip Gardens (talk) 15:57, 16 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Guys, be patient. Based on my previous experiences (as an organiser), I can tell you that counting points is very boring and this makes it very hard. As you can see, they are working already and I am sure about that they will announce the results as soon as they finish. Bencemac (talk) 14:07, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The points of such users have been recalculated.--Lilit (WM AM) (talk) 20:55, 19 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
