Project Plan[edit]

pre-Wikimania debrief We plan to host a pre-Wikimania debrief to introduce Wikimania to the community considering that we are a growing community with new members joining each day. The briefing will also help digest the Wikimania program to the community members and newcomers and help identify sessions of common interest. The debrief proved to be important in last year's Wikimania since it was the first time for our community members.

Wikimania Africa Programming Watch Party we plan to host a watch party on the day of the wikimania

programming set aside for the African region.

Post Wikimania Meet up Just like last year, we plan to host a post-Wikimania meetup to help us collect feedback and experiences and identify areas of collaboration in future Wikimanias or other Wikimedia projects. This proved to be essential in conducting follow up and enhanced reporting metrics.

Data Support and Childcare We plan to provide data support to enhance communication, and childcare facilitation to enable participation for the 50 folks we plan to support in attending Wikimania 2022.

Wikimania entertainment sessions The UG is planning to submit a programming session proposal for Wikimania.

  • ...We plan to use the same format we used last year to identify the needs of community members as far as data and child care support are concerned. We use a google doc to capture how many days and hours members plan to attend Wikimania and we use the data for the reimbursements.

We had set a standard rate of kes 500 pp per day for data and cash kes 1000/= for child care. The money was distributed through mobile money. we plan to our use existing social media platforms i.e. WhatsApp, Telegram and Twitter to reach out to newbies but our members are already aware that we are applying for a collective scholarship and will therefore not apply for individual scholarship.
