En 2016, seulement 2,6 % du contenu de Wikipédia concernait l'Afrique. Depuis lors, plusieurs efforts concertés ont été déployés pour améliorer ce chiffre. Actuellement, seulement environ 5% du contenu existant sur Wikipédia concerne l'Afrique.

Africa Wiki Challenge est une campagne visant à contribuer davantage à l'amélioration de ce chiffre.

Afin de participer à cette première campagne, nous avons prévu d'organiser dans la ville de Kisangni, une série d'activités pour sensibiliser et promouvoir ladite campagne, permettant de combler ce manque de contenu en rapport avec l'Afrique sur Wikipédia en particulier et sur le web en général. Il s'agit de générer du contenu africain sur Wikipédia afin de projeter non seulement des lieux en Afrique, mais aussi des sites de la diaspora.

En gardant à l'esprit que l'Afrique est le deuxième (2e) plus grand continent de la planète, ce genre d'initiative et d'effort concerté visant à améliorer non seulement les statistiques mais aussi le récit africain, on vraiment raison d'être. C'est pourquoi, nous souhaitons organisés :

• Conférence : pour la promotion et la sensibilisation des jeunes sur la campagne. c’est quoi Wikipédia, comment contribuer sur wikipédia et qu’est-ce que Africa Wiki Challenge.
• Edit-a-thon : Deux journée de formation, d’édition et d’amélioration des articles sur Wikipédia, ainsi que de téléversement des images en rapport avec le continent africain.
• Sensibilisation : Faire la publicité de la campagne et encourager la participation par le biais de publications (communiqué de presse, campagne médiatique, octroi d'interviews sur la campagne, etc.);
• Campagne Photos : Nous disposons d'un APN de très bonne qualité, qui va nous permettre de prendre des photos dans plusieurs sites de la ville et qui seront téléversées sur Common, et en suite utilisées sur Wikipédia.

In 2016, only 2,6 % of Wikipedia's content was about Africa. Since then, several efforts started to improve that proportion. Currently, only 5% of Wikipedia's content is about Africa.

Africa Wiki Challenge is a campaign aiming to create more contributions in order to improve this figure.

In order to participate to this first campaign, we are planning to organize in Kisangani a series of activities to garner interest and participation to the campaign, in order to reduce the content gap about African topics on Wikipedia in particular, and online in general. The aim is to generate African content on Wikipedia to give a presence to African and also Afrodiasporic spaces.

Keeping in mind that Africa is the Earth's second (2d) biggest continent, this kind of initiative are important, both to improve statistics but also to highlight the African narrative. This is why we would like to organize:

• A conference: to promote the campaign to young audiences. Topic of the conference: what is Wikipedia, how to contribute, and what is the Africa Wiki Challenge.
• Edit-a-thon : Two days of training, editing, and improving articles on Wikipedia, as well as uploading images about the African continent.
• Awareness-raising : Raising awareness about the campaign and encouraging the participation through publications (press release, media campaign, giving interviews about the campaign, etc.)
• Photo campaign : We hava a high quality Access Point Name, which wil allow us to take pictures in several sites of the city, and to upload them to Commons, and then use them on Wikipedia.

• Orientez les participants potentiels vers les ressources nécessaires qui pourraient faciliter leur participation au campagne continentale;
• Assister les participants individuels qui veulent participer au concours depuis la RD Congo;
• Amplifier la campagne en faisant la publicité par le biais de publications (communiqué de presse, campagne médiatique, octroi d'interviews sur la campagne, etc.); et via le partage des informations sur les médias sociaux, notamment sur Facebook, Télégram, WhatsApp, Twitter, etc.
• Recruter et initier des nouveaux contributeurs sur Wikipédia et Common;

Retombés de l'activité :

• + 30 Participants à la conférence ;
• + 20 Participants aux atélier ;
• + 30 articles modifiés et/ou créés en rapport avec le continent africain ;
• + 40 références ajoutées ;
• + 40 photos téléversées.

NB : Pour mesurer l'impact de cette série d'activé, nous comptons mettre en place un tableau de bord, qui va nous pousser à fournir plus d’efforts afin d'atteindre nos rétombés.
