What is the project about?[edit]

The way people communicate with each other, the working atmosphere and motivation in the communities are important topics which can sometimes cause problems. It would therefore be useful to focus on the existing know-how in the communities on these topics. This includes pooling best practices and the numerous constructive ideas and suggestions for improvement that already exist for each topic.

These best practices and ideas are often widely dispersed and, even when they are briefly brought to discussion, unfortunately tend to get forgotten about again soon afterwards.

We want to set up a centralized platform to pool these ideas and experiences and make the know-how of the communities visible and add external inputs as well. This will increase the visibility of suggestions for improvement, get discussions going again and perhaps lead to work on some ideas that need more than visibility and wide-scale replication to become implemented. These ideas would be follow-up projects to this project.

How will this project help us meet our annual goals?[edit]

Collecting experiences of a good working atmosphere is interesting in and of itself because people tend not to comment on the positive but focus on the negative associations they have on this topic. We want to build on these experiences and, together with the creativity and know-how within the communities, come up with suggestions for improvement.

The discussion forum can also contribute new insights that can be used to adapt the ideas that are already present and to decide which suggestions should be implemented.

What are the key milestones along the way and by when should we reach them?[edit]

No. When What
1. April 20, 2013 We will have set up and announced a page for gathering ideas and experiences; start of process of filling the page with links on good suggestions and experiences. Online discussion options are integrated.
2. May 4-5, and May 25-26, 2013 Ideas and suggestions collected so far will be presented and discussed in the open space sessions at the Zedler Prize award ceremony on May 4 and May 5 and the General Assembly on May 25 and May 26.
3. July 10, 2013 Based on the results of the online and offline discussions, Team Communities will publish its suggestions of which ideas and practices could be further developed and promoted in which way. After another online feedback phase, the team will decide on the follow-up projects.
