 Wikimedia España is a Spanish non-profit organization, recognized by the Wikimedia Foundation as Wikimedia chapter in Spain. It was approved by the Wikimedia Foundation on February 7, 2011, who published the resolution two days later, and registered on February 11, 2011. Its inscription in the Registro Nacional de Asociaciones of the Spanish Interior Ministry was confirmed on April 15, 2011. It was designated a public-interest organisation by the Ministry of the Interior, a decision published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) No. 43 of 19 February 2021. Its aim is to foster, directly or indirectly, the development of Free Knowledge by promoting related projects, particularly those hosted and supported by the Wikimedia Foundation, Inc., in all languages spoken in Spain, such as Wikipedia, Commons, Wikidata... The membership fee is €15 per year (except for minors), plus a €5 registration fee.
