[edit]February 25, 2012
[edit]The first Open Web Day was held at Netopia, an Internet café in Robinsons Place Ermita, Manila. Most of the participants were members of WMPH who do not have an account in any Wikimedia-related projects and who have not yet edited any article in the Wikipedia. WMPH President Jojit Ballesteros gave the presentation and workshop on Wikipedia and Mozilla Representative Bob Reyes presented the localization project of Firefox into Tagalog. The outputs of the workshop are as follows: (1) the participants created their Wikipedia account; (2) the participants have edited some articles; (3) the participants have started an article and/or created stubs; (4) the participants have translated some Firefox phrases into Tagalog. The participants were given free food at the end of the event.

[edit]The organizers partnered with the De La Salle University (DLSU) - College of Computer Studies (CCS) to bring Open Web Day to DLSU as part of its Research and Technology Summit 2012. The actual workshops did not happen because organizers cannot connect to the Internet. Nonetheless, the event continued with presentations from both organizations– Jojit from WMPH, Bob and Community Manager Eusebio "Jun" Barrun from Mozilla Philippines. Students asked questions enthusiastically after the presentations and were rewarded with swags (stickers, pins, pens and ID laces), Mozilla T-Shirts and Offline Wikipedia DVDs. After the event, Ralph Vincent Regalado, instructor and our partner organizer at DLSU, toured WMPH and Mozilla around the College and introduced us to Dr. Rachel Edita O. Roxas, CCS Dean. WMPH and Mozilla Philippines were given plaques of appreciation for participating in the summit.
