Activities[edit]

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

  1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of edit-a-thons or trainings?

A preliminary training will be organized to acquaint new editors and brush up existing editors after which an edit-a-thon contest will follow to garner contributions from the community.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages. You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

A notice of this proposal has been published on the WUGN talk page. It will also be announced on the Wikimedia User Group Nigeria mailing list, and social media platforms.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them? For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings

Publicity will be carried out via WikiClub LASU’s twitter page and whatsapp group, also the influence of the student union leaders.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. For example: User:Kaizenify

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them>

Participant would be asked to come along with their laptops/tablets/mobile internet accessing devices and also the preliminary training will suffice for those lacking in needed skills. We’d also provide a help desk that can be reached if any query arises. Provision for internet subscription will be made during the training event.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

New editors will be added to the WikiClub LASU whatsapp group after the event where we keep them  updated with latest information on the Wikimedia projects. Feedback form will be provided to get their feedbacks on the event.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project? This training/edit-a-thon is a maiden edition in Ojo campus of the Lagos State University (LASU). Having a representative of the Wikimedian User Group Nigeria (WUGN) will go along way in giving a good first impression to the main campus
