Founder

The 'founder' global group was created on February 27, 2009 upon a request from the board of trustees for Wikipedia founder User:Jimbo Wales (see log). The group gives Wales full access to Special:UserRights and other Stewards rights. It was created following a community consensus that Wales' Steward rights should be removed due to his inactivity with the right.[1]
The roles of this usergroup in various Wikimedia projects are yet to be defined.

The founder group was created to replace, and is a copy of, the local 'steward' flag that was attached to User:Jimbo Wales.
