[edit] Instructions

[edit] Before posting here

If there is a bureaucrat on the local wiki, please ask them to fulfill your request using Special:UserRights on the relevant wiki. Before requesting access here, make sure to obtain consensus on the local wiki if there is a community (see the index of request pages). If there is no local community, request on this page with a note to that effect.

Remember to read the local project's bot policy. This should be linked from the local bot request page; a few are listed below. DO NOT post your request here without having fulfilled the local policies first, and having waited for at least a week to gauge community opinion.

[edit] Making a request

  1. Place the following code at the bottom of the "Bot status requests" section below:
    ===Bot name@xxproject===
    {{sr-request
     |status    = <!--don't change this line-->
     |domain    =
     |user name =
     |discussion=
    }}
    Thank you! ~~~~

  2. Fill in the values:
    • 'domain': the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
    • 'user name': the bot's user name (like "ExampleBot"). Leave it blank if you're requesting access for multiple bots.
    • 'discussion': a link to the local vote or discussion about the bot (for example, "[[ex:Wikipedia:Bots#ExampleBot]]"). Notes: If there is no local vote or discussion, please say so below the template and explain why not. If there's no community, implement the standard bot policy instead.
  3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

[edit] Global bot requests

Global bots are enabled on most wikis using the standard bot policy (see list of global bot wikis and global bot access requirements).

[edit] Global bot status for CarsracBot

Hello! I would like to request global bot status for my interwikibot CarsracBot. It solves interwikis semi-automatic and has already been flagged at a number of projects. See the toolserver-list and my own bot user page. I'm working on some small wiki to get those also on the global bot list. But more about those later. First I have to wait a week or longer until there is response or until I visit those request page again. Thank you! Carsrac 10:14, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Global bot status for JAnDbot

Hello! I would like to request global bot status for my interwikibot JAnDbot. It is working on interwiki, both automatic and semi-automatic and has already been flagged at a number of projects. See the toolserver-list]. Thank you! JAn Dudík 06:51, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

How long has it been running? How many edits overall across how many wikis? Sounds reasonable enough to me, but I note you have a blockage on afwiki... can that be resolved? ++Lar: t/c 18:14, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Global bot status for Zorrobot

Hi, please grant my bot global bot status. ZorroIII 18:11, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

I think the info box here should be for your bot, not you as the "info" and other things come up for you. Could you clarify that? ++Lar: t/c 18:16, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Better now? ZorroIII 07:47, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Yes, thanks! But edits like this one puzzled me. To clarify, you certify that this bot, like others qualified for the global flag, primarily does interlanguage links and is in compliance with global bot access requirements, correct? (by the way is there a lot of call for adding interlanguage links to user pages? :) ) ++Lar: t/c 11:48, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
The only automatic jobs I run are interwiki jobs, using the standard pywiki framework. This is also the only jobs that will be done on wikis where my bot does not have local bot flag. The edit you questioned was done to make sure that I had contact info available. ZorroIII 18:58, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification, and for your patience! Done ++Lar: t/c 04:27, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Global bot status for MenoBot

I would like to request a global bot flag for my bot. I have already a bot flag on many Wikipedias including the largest ones: English, German, French, Polish, Japanese, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, etc. My oldest bot flag dates back to July 2007 on my home wiki (arwiki) where my bot has made more than 100 thousand edits. I have read and understand the Bot policy. I was granted recently access to the toolserver and will start running my bot directly using it. Thank you! Meno25 21:42, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Done ++Lar: t/c 17:56, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Global bot status for de:User:SpBot

I would like to request a global bot flag for my bot. I have already a bot flag on 137 Wikipedias and did > 127.000 Edits since Oct. 2005. --Euku 23:07, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

Done ++Lar: t/c 17:51, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Global bot status for lt:User:Idioma-bot

I would like to request a global bot status for my bot. I have already a bot flag on approximately 150 Wikipedias. Hugo.arg 18:53, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Global bot status for es:User:Muro Bot

Hello! My bot is now flagged on 44 projects and it has done more than 226,000 edits. Thanks. Muro de Aguas 23:32, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Bot status requests

Please add new requests at the bottom of this section.

Bot operators making bulk requests, please consider helping implement the standard bot policy on small wikis to simplify and streamline the bulk request process.

[edit] タチコマ robot@newwiki

Thank you! -- Cat chi? 21:20, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

People request it locally at http://new.wikipedia.org/wiki/विकिपिडिया:बोट/broken , why haven't you? MaxSem(Han shot first!) 09:13, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
Pathoschild suggested me that I implement the "Standard Bot Policy" on wikis rather than make individual requests - to speed things up for everyone. Local community is inactive (or so does a member of the community claim) and supported SBP. -- Cat chi? 09:20, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
Still while it is inactive you should ask it there locally. That is how Standard Bot Policy works. They may not be active, but if needed the possibility must be given to voted against it. Sometimes a local community become active if needed and they then speak very good english. Carsrac 05:56, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
You can run your bot on that wiki without a bot flag for a week or for 100 edits, and it will be eligible for automatic approval under the standard bot policy. —{admin} Pathoschild 17:18:12, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Active bureaucrat but he never gives the flag for the bots.
The previous requests on this wiki have been given by a steward. [1]
Best regards, --WikiDreamer 11:19, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, if he decides not to grant botstatus it is his decision, thanks, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 13:15, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] KlaudiuBot@trwiktionary

Thank you! — KlaudiuMihăilă Message 20:24, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

Dear Klaudiu, I have sent the local crat an email, lets see if he responds, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 17:07, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
I was told here by Saltinbas, a user from tr.wiktionary, that I should ask for the bot flag at meta. But it's ok if we wait for the crat's answer a bit. — KlaudiuMihăilă Message 20:11, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Last time my mail had worked too :) let's wait a bit, maybe he responds, I believe tr.wikt allows to run the bot without flag while waiting for it, but please ask them first. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 20:21, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Done, set, no response via mail, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 23:12, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Bureaucrat Davide21 is active. Please ask him to give you the flag. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 08:03, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
See the first answer of the admin Andreas [2]. Davide21 went on Wikipedia only for modifying the status of "admins". Other requests for bot flag don't been done. Best regards, --WikiDreamer 12:18, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Bots@pdcwiki

This page needs urgend attention. (Requests 3.9+) Thank you --Marbot 17:45, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

I think another solution would be to allow global bot status in pdcwiki. I believe that global bots are trustworthy. However, I do not know how to acheive this. Best regards --Marbot 09:21, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
I've placed a request for it on pdc:Wikipedia Diskussion:Bots. Couldn't find the village pump... Laaknor 14:12, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
That's fair enough. In addition I have put an announcement on the main page linking to this discussion. --Marbot 14:57, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
A week has past and no objections occured. May a steward be so kind. Thank you --Marbot 16:08, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
I've updated the template on meta with aaa=yes, globalbots=yes. Laaknor 16:35, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Removal of bot status

If a specific user is abusing his/her bot status, you may request removal of the status on his account here. Please be sure to provide a short explanation on the current situation, along with links to the bot's contribution and an announcement in your community of the abuse. Previous requests are archived.

[edit] White Cat

My human account had been accidentally granted a bot flag on the following wikis.

  • White Cat@cywiki
  • White Cat@euwiki
  • White Cat@cawikinews
  • White Cat@eswikiversity
  • White Cat@eowikibooks

The following accounts on the following wikis do not have a bot flag (my human account was granted a bot flag instead of the actual bot account). The bot flag from my human account should be migrated to these.

  • Computadora@eswikiversity
  • Komputilo@eowikibooks

I kindly request a fix. Thanks. -- Cat chi? 15:55, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

cywiki has an active bureaucrat, euwiki has an active bureaucrat, cawikinews has active bureaucrats, eswikiversity has a relatively active bureaucrat and only eowikibooks has an inactive bureaucrat, but he's active on eowiki. So, this is clearly Not done. --FiliP × 17:00, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
I know all that, but they seem to lack the technical knowledge as do I. If you are willing to "teach" them, that is fine by me. -- Cat chi? 17:40, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
What is there to be taught? Go to Special:Userrights. Period. Everything from there on should be clear, because it's ever so intuitive. If a bureaucrat can't do that, then maybe he shouldn't be a bureaucrat. --FiliP × 09:04, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
Fixed. —{admin} Pathoschild 20:11:02, 04 August 2008 (UTC)
