  • I would like to request adminship in the Georgian Wikipedia (ka). The Georgian Wikipedia is quickly growing up now. But recently some vandalisms and spams are observed occasionally. There are so few people working to pay enough attention to them as well as to other things generally. Regards. -- Island 11:13, 25 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • I would like to request bot status for account fr:Utilisateur:MisterMatt Bot on french wikipedia. It's a bot for several routine operations (categorizing stubs, puting templates which link to the related portal, and some others little things). For now, the bot has made over 5000 modifications in three weeks, but I was obliged to run it at night (I bother less people in night), because it polluted the RC. I've planned to make others corrections, so the bot status would be useful. fr:Utilisateur:MisterMatt 17 May 2005
  • Hi, I'm requesting for sysop status on the Friulian Wikipedia project. Admin page on Friulian Wikipedia: [fur:Vichipedie:Aministrad%C3%B4rs]]. Requesting Sysop status on Friulian Wikipedia project. User page: fur:User:Klenje. Thank you very much --Klenje 09:36, 13 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Swedish Wikipedia currently has five administrators who has formally asked for their own resignation. Currently it seems we have no way of removing administrator priviliges from an admin; our programmer/developer (the only one, as far as I know) has previously done so in a few cases but does not feel it is his job any more; it should be done by a steward, he says.
  • The situation is to large extent the result of a long series of conflicts with and around an administrator who many of as label as problematic, as an editor and as an administrator. As far as I understand this user has been technically proven - as far as that is possible - to be identical with a user who is currently on a three month ban from English Wikipedia for the use of sock puppets. This user is, by most of us who have been around for a while, considered a true member of the troll species.
  • When for the second time challenged with a poll regarding withdrawal of admin priviledges, this administrator announced that he voluntarily withdrew from the post. It can not be excluded that this was done for tactical reasons; since the procedure of how to remove administrator status on Swedish Wikipedia is not clear, a couple of such requests have been around for a while but nothing has happened with them. Most, if not all, of these other cases of administrator asking for removal of their admin status is a result of this long ongoing situations with continous conflicts, that is wearing and tearing on all of us. The logical thing to do IMO would be to remove the admin status for all five of them. Those who have the trust of the Sw WP public, can always be re-elected later.
  • For details, ask me or any of the Swedish Wikipedians that you know and trust. /Habj 14:11, 20 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • IronBot is a bot for routine operations (mass creation of similar pages, wikification, most often mistypes correction and similar) at the Ossetic wikipedia (os).

Here's the announcement about it. As the Ossetic WP admin I am not against. ;) -- Slavik IVANOV 22:49, 15 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I request the bot status for some languages. I'll connect the interwiki links.

This is a long request, sorry. But it is crucial for the bot's task to operate in all languages. I asked for permission at de and en, there is support at eo and ro. Please grant the bot status for the following user accounts:

:aa, ab, af, ak, als, am, an, ang, ar, arc, as, ast, av, ay, az,

I haven't checked every single wikipedia for its bot policy, so please say if I missed something. Thanks. — Richie 09:40, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC)

This can be done without checking rules at: ba:, bh:, bi:, bm:, bn:, bo:, ce:, ch:, cho:, chr:, chy:, co:, cr:, cv:, dv:, dz:, ee:, ff:, fj:, fur:, gn:, got:, gv:, ha:, haw:, ho:, ht:, hz:, ig:, ii:, ik:, iu:, jbo:, kg:, ki:, kj:, kk:, kl:, km:, kr:, kv:, ky:, lg:, ln:, lo:, mg:, mh:, mi:, mn:, mo:, mus:, my:, na:, nah:, ne:, ng:, ny:, om:, pi:, ps:, rm:, rn:, roa-rup:, rw:, sc:, sd:, se:, sg:, si:, sm:, sn:, so:, ss:, st:, tg:, ti:, tk:, tn:, to:, tpi:, ts:, tum:, tw:, ty:, ug:, uz:, ve:, wo:, xh:, yi:, yo:, za:, and zu:. The reason for that is simple: they have no community or establish rule.

honestly, you could ask a bot to do this :-)

Thanks alot! However, it's not entirely clear to me where the bot got the flag now. Could someone please clarify this? Is there a way to check whether the bot-flag is set?
I understood that my bot has the flag in:
aa, ab, af, ak, als, am, an, ang, ar, arc, as, ast, av, ay, az, be, bg, br, bs, ca, ce, ch, cho, chr, chy, co, commons, cr, cs, csb, cv, cy, da, de, dv, dz, ee, el, en, eo, es, et, eu, fa, ff, fi, fj, fo, fur, fy, ga, gd, gl, gn, got, gu, gv, ha, haw, he, hi, ho, hr, ht, hu, hy, hz, ia, id, ie, ig, ii, ik, io, is, it, iu, ja, jbo, jv, ka, kg, ki, kj, kk, kl, km, kn, ko, kr, ks, ku, kv, kw, ky, la, lb, lg, li, ln, lo, lt, lv, mg, mh, mi, mk, ml, mn, mo, mr, ms, mt, mus, my, na, nah, nds, ne, ng, nl, nn, no, nv, ny, oc, om, or, pa, pi, pl, ps, pt, qu, rm, rn, ro, roa-rup, ru, rw, sa, sc, scn, sd, se, sg, si, simple, sk, sl, sm, sn, so, sq, sr, ss, st, su, sv, sw, ta, te, tg, th, ti, tk, tl, tlh, tn, to, tpi, tr, ts, tt, tum, tw, ty, ug, uk, ur, uz, ve, vi, vo, wa, wo, xh, yi, yo, za, zh, zh-min-nan, zu
This would mean that ba, bh, bi, bm, bn, bo and fr aren't done yet. Is this right? — Richie 21:44, 1 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
There are a lot more than just those which aren't done. so: for example isn't. I suggest you ask a developer to set this on all wikis. It isn't practical to do it via the steward interface since it requires manually entering this for every single wiki. Angela 12:01, 5 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks a lot anyway. — Richie 22:11, 9 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Election on nowiki: User:Wegge User:Malene has been asked by the nowiki to coordinate an election to determine the new interwiki link text for that wiki. We are both admins on dawiki, and would like temporary admin status on the nowiki (no.wikipedia.org) for the duration of this election (april 29th - may 14th), in order to handle the election as effecient as possible. The election is taking place on no:Wikipedia:Målform/Interwikinavn. The reason for the request here on meta, instead on asking a bureaucrat on nowiki, is our desire to appear neutral to any participants in this election. -- /Wegge 22:03, 2005 Apr 28 (UTC) -- Malene Thyssen 22:08, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • Myself temporarily at ja to block a troll following various emails to the board and confirmation from Tim Starling that it was a sockpuppet account. Angela 19:24, 10 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Also for Malagasy Wikipedia http://mg.wikipedia.org/ which is not much activity, user DotMG wants adminship to translate the user interface. (added here by Node ue)

How do you know this? DotMG has only made 4 edits, 2 of which weer to his user page, and there is no mention of this on mg:Wikipedia:Mpandrindra. I think I'd rather wait for this user to request adminship themselves, once they have some more involvement in the community. Angela 10:13, 5 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
CONFIRMATION : DotMG can be given adminship. He will help a lot on translation. Since the Malagasy wikipedia has been reset, we are gathering more editors... and especially translators. Thanks Hery (My Talk)
Ok. DotMG is now an admin. Angela 23:49, 6 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Following the request of our lb-wiki bureaucrat Briséis, I should be grateful if you could grant bot status to both ChronoBot and LuxBot.
ChronoBot creates basic chronology schemes to be afterwards filled with content by human users. Being up to ten times faster at this task than any human, this frees a lot of time for the work on the content itself. ChronoBot has already been tested on two centuries and works perfect now.
LuxBot intends to correct Luxembourg articles with respect to orthography. The spell-check applies only to common spelling mistakes. Currently, LuxBot operates only half-automated, but it is planned to use a full-automated version once a routine excluding external links from the spell-check will have been included in the code. Thank you. --Otets 12:32, 1 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • I request the bot status for csb:user:Tsca.bot to take care of interwiki links there (this bot operates also on pl.wikipedia/pl.wiktionary/pl.wikiquote/commons/nl.wiktionary). BTW, the Cassubian wiki was apparently vandalised (page moves), so I'll publish the correct warnfiles after the run. The (only one active) admin of csb has been notified. Thank you,

Please mark changes from Commons:User:WeatherBot as "bot" edits. If it is possible to do so on all of the language editions of Wikinews as well, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. — DV 06:47, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Please desysop ja:User:0null0 on ja.wikipedia. 0null004:59, 9 Apr 2005 (UTC)

  • Wait: The legitimacy of this request is strongly suspected. no timestamp, no link to user page, no user page, no previous edit before this requestd. There is no firm evidence this request was done by ja:User:0null0. I requested this editor to make user page here on meta and put links between two projects: JAWP and meta. In my opinion, this request should be processed after establishment of identification, or after a trusted JA WP user make a request with a legitimate link to the relevant discussion. --Aphaia | Translate Election | ++ 04:32, 9 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • I Request for sysop in the malagasy (mg) wikis (wikibook, wikipedia, wiktionary) since there is nobody to take care of it. I have some more users to take care of the translation of the interface messages and to continue adding more texts. We have started to put on new texts on wiktionary. Thanx --Hery 19:59, 1 May 2005 (UTC)
  • nn.wiktionary.org and nn.wikiquote.org have no admins. I hereby request sysop / bureaucrat status for myself on both wikis (and for user Eirik on nn.wiktionary.org). We are currently too few users there to bring the matter to a local vote.

Hi, I'll wait a little more time for people to give their opinion. Anthere 19:58, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)
People who voted already are the only users beside Skuolfi.
Important note: Skuolfi is a fluent speaker of Sámi, and has been the first active fluent Sámi speaking contributor to the Sámi Wikipedia. He should be given adminship because the opinions of all active users on se: have already been given at the vote, both were in favor.

I would like to request adminship for PCode on the Chuvash Wikipedia (cv:. Administrators page is here.

Hi, I'll wait a little bit of time for opinions on cv. Anthere 19:57, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Hi, there is no community there .
In fact, if you will check his edit history, you will find he has made heaps of edits, while other people (such as Untifler, who doesn't speak Chuvash, from the Tatar Wikipedia) have only made 0~20.
PCode is the first to make things at cv. I know the history of that Wikipedia: it's been created according to a message from a Russian boy, who could not do much there because of his poor Chuvash. Since then PCode is the first active user, in fact. It'd be good to grat him adminship so that he could translate the interface and do similar things. Voting for his adminship would have no sense now, for most members of cv are not Chuvash at the moment. -- cv:Amikeco/Slavik IVANOV 16:17, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Important note: PCode is a fluent speaker of Chuvash, and has been the first active contributor to the Chuvash Wikipedia. He should be given adminship because there are no opinions on cv, save two inactive, non-chuvash contributors Slavik Ivanov and Untifler.
Would be grateful, if Admin rights as soon as possible were are transferred{handed} to me. I tried to contact Untifler, could. Rights are necessary for translation system messages and trackings contents (Programm Translate). PCode 11:22, 4 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
PCode is now an admin. Angela 10:49, 5 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

        • He is very active and creates many great (and fairly NPOV) articles mostly about religion.
        • Religion questions belong to hot themes, but Dodo keeps wikiquette in all his discussions (even if one user tends to provoke).
        • I saw him at least at one case, when he took the initiative in advocating against breaking copyright law. --RuM 23:04, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

There is a consensus (three users, including a sysop) that I should be the bureaucrat, since I've been sending the RfA's to this page for some time anyways. I'm already a sysop at the vi: wiki (username: Mxn). There is currently a poll to decide what exactly to call a bureaucrat in Vietnamese, by the way. Also, there is a user by the name of Vương Ngân Hà who was nominated by a sysop, and has received suppport from two other sysops (including me). No objections have been voiced against either me or Vương Ngân Hà. Thanks for your time. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, blog) 05:53, 3 Mar 2005 (UTC)

  • Request for Sysop status on the Bambara Wikipedia for Guaka. I don't speak Bambara, but I do want to learn it. I want to get the Bambara Wikipedia started while I'm in Mali. I read and write French. I'm sysop of the Limburgish Wikipedia since November 2004 or so. Guaka 16:00, 11 Feb 2005 (UTC)
    • We have not had much by the way of luck with giving people sysop status on a wiki whose language they don't speak.... So I'm a bit apprehensive about that. At the very least, please follow the instructions above. --Daniel Mayer 19:45, 12 Feb 2005 (UTC)
      • Could you make these instructions a tiny bit clearer? For instance, a link to an existing "admin page" would be nice. The plan is to set up a competition to get the Bambara Wikipedia started. I'm here for 3 months, working for w:Geekcorps. We very likely won't be able to find someone who writes Bambara, is willing and able to be sysop and do the competition within these 3 months. If the launch and the competition are successful we'll probably have some candidates for adminship and I will be very willing to step down from this function. For the time being it would be very practical to encounter possible vandalism, and possible mistakes. Oh, and IRL I'm surrounded by people who do speak Bambara, whom I can ask what stuff means (once people start adding text). Guaka 09:15, 17 Feb 2005 (UTC)
        • Uhhhhhhhh... if you're surrounded by Bambara speakers, why is the content of the site mostly in French so far? Isn't it as simple as saying "Could you please write this for me in Bambara?"??? (unsigned)
          • No it isn't. Asking what stuff means is so much easier than asking "can you please write this in Bambara". Most people don't write Bambara. They learn reading/writing with French. Many concepts don't have quick'n'easy translations, if there are any at all. Guaka
            • In the whole nation of Mali, there must be somebody who can write Bambara. If there are no words in Bambara as you say, then how can we have an encyclopedia in it? A language without words is like a man without skin, bones, or blood.
              • Did I write that nobody writes in Bambara? Please read more carefully. Guaka 16:01, 23 Feb 2005 (UTC)
          • I've created http://bm.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrateurs. Guaka 13:40, 21 Feb 2005 (UTC)
            • The vote is happening, but there aren't many users really. On the vote I also made clear that I'll withdraw once there are some other, serious Bambaraphone adminstrators. There has been some text I'd normally consider vandalism, from the same IP where the one vote against my adminship came from. However, later there was some more serious communication going on. And even some serious contributions from that address! :)
When is the "voting" considered finished? Guaka 13:13, 2 Mar 2005 (UTC)
              • Adminship granted until there are Bambara speakers, or until their are objections made to this. Angela 12:06, 5 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Japanese Wiktionary

I request database locking of Japanese Wiktionary. This project is not so inactive, however the basic guidelines have not been established yet and we have many administrative issues and problems. After discussion on the village pump, we decided to lock the DB. This lock is temporal until the policies prepared. We will discuss those issues on 日本語版ウィクショナリーの整備. Regards, e-Goat 22:16, 14 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Britty indicated 8 people supported that, against 1 opposing. For a rather big community (third language), I think this number is quite low. Could more people give their opinion on this ? Anthere
Only three people supported Britty's adminship in Japanese Wikiquote. But this vote was approved and meta considered she met this requirement: "you are a sysop on a local wikipedia or related project." Why aren't 8 people enough? DrFrog 02:32, 15 Feb 2005 (UTC)
This is a very different issue. Regardless of Britty status on ja, we on meta really trust us. So, we see no issue in having her sysop. We need her. But here, we are talking of a whole project, the impact could be tremendous, not something to do just because 8 people ask. The french and japanese communities are basically the same size, I would not do it if 8 people only had given their opinion. Anthere

Thanks for your comment, Anthere, I can understand your opinion. However, now there is no opposing virtually because when I ascertained the locking request again, the oppose did not express opposing argument. And I'm afraid this number is not so low. On the actual condition, the contributors, including sysops, who show an interest in creating administrative documents and effortful works are quite few, even though the Japanese Wikipedia is big. I'm afraid this is the actual state of the Japanese Wiktionary. e-Goat 04:10, 15 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Agreed. And would you let me add another fact: my proposal for temporal closure of Japanese WikinewsWiktionary to wikija-l. There are no responce in the mailingist. If someone opposed, they could express their opinion whether in the mailing list or in the beer parlour of the project. We had only one clear opposition during a week. In my opinion we could conclude there is a concensus for closing. I asked therefore you, Anthere, to react this request. --Aphaia | WQ2翻訳中 | talk 05:23, 15 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Now We got new 2 supports. And I should have told you that the discussion was absolutely open, anyone could express opinions freely, I announced it clearly on the Village pump, Main page and Recentchanges. e-Goat 00:13, 16 Feb 2005 (UTC) p.s. Aphaia, you meant Wiktionary not Wikinews, right?

Thanks, eG, it was my fault. Sorry for confusion, if any. --Aphaia | WQ2翻訳中 | talk 00:21, 16 Feb 2005 (UTC)

None of 10 supporters is active contributor (more than 10 edits in the main namescape in last 30 days) (Brevam: 9, Electric goat: 5, 218.226.208.33: 4, PiaCarrot: 2, Aphaia: 1, Kahusi: 0, Kzhr: 0, Ninomy: 0, NJT: 0, Tietew: 0). But we don't care about that. While Japanese Wiktionary is open, we cannot establish basic guidelines and solve administrative issues. But once Wiktionary is locked, many wikipoliticians will gather in meta and they are expected to boost wikipolitics. DrFrog 01:15, 16 Feb 2005 (UTC)

quite true, anyway, I tried to do it, and could not, as the feature is not unabled on ja wiktionary. I just asked Brion to please do it for you. Anthere 20:51, 16 Feb 2005 (UTC)
