Adiutor is a gadget developed to facilitate maintenance tasks on Wikipedia, making them more efficient and user-friendly. Built using OOUI-based MediaWiki JS and JavaScript, Adiutor is designed to provide users with convenience in performing various tasks. All suggestions and bug reports are reviewed and discussed on the discussion page to continually improve and refine the gadget. The active participation and support from the Wikipedia community play a vital role in further developing Adiutor into a more functional and user-friendly gadget.
Project process
Why we started this project
The inception of the Adiutor Project stems from our desire to enhance the Wikipedia editing experience for users worldwide. We recognized the importance of creating a gadget that could streamline various processes, making editing easier, faster, and more enjoyable for contributors across different Wikimedia communities. Below are the main reasons why we embarked on this project:
- Empowering Wikipedia editors: As passionate Wikipedia editors ourselves, we understand the significance of efficient editing gadgets. By developing Adiutor, we aimed to empower fellow editors with a user-friendly gadget that simplifies their daily tasks, allowing them to focus on creating valuable content.
- Addressing repetitive processes: Wikipedia editing often involves repetitive tasks, such as deletion requests and copyright checks. We saw an opportunity to streamline these processes and save editors valuable time by offering a centralized and efficient solution through Adiutor.
- Collaboration and adaptation: Our vision extended beyond a single language or community. We wanted to collaborate with various Wikimedia communities to adapt Adiutor for multiple languages, making it accessible to a broader audience and strengthening inter-community ties.
- Open-Source philosophy: We firmly believe in the open-source philosophy of sharing knowledge and resources freely. By making Adiutor an open-source gadget, we ensure that all users can benefit from its features and contribute to its improvement.
- Improving user experience: Ultimately, the goal of the Adiutor Project is to enhance the overall user experience on Wikipedia. We envisioned a gadget that fosters a more efficient and enjoyable editing environment, inspiring editors to continue their invaluable contributions.
