Draft recommendations from Wikimedia 2030 working groups

[edit]
Central Notice Settings

What is the campaign duration?
  • 8 August 2019 → October or November 2019
Which projects will you be targeting?
  • For now, English; multiple, if not all, projects if possible
What languages will you be targeting?
  • Multiple or all available languages
Do you wish to show banners to Logged In users, Anonymous Users or Both? Do you want to target users with a specific number of edits or average monthly?
  • Communities (i.e. anyone) can comment on the drafts. Unsure whether anonymous user are allowed, but I think logged-out users can comment as long as they're not sockpuppeting. (Edited) Nevertheless, per comment below, the banner should target just logged-in users. Limiting to watchlist pages is suggested.

What countries will your campaign target?

  • Multiple as possible

Banner/Campaign Diet:

  • To be determined by Central Notice admin

What is the purpose of the campaign? How will you measure the success of the campaign?

Discussion

[edit]

Banner text doesn't explain what "Draft recommendations by working groups of the Wikimedia 2030" are nor why should I care about them. Please reword. --Martin Urbanec (talk) 13:23, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Made two banners and struck initial one, Martin. George Ho (talk) 19:59, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Looks better, thanks. --Martin Urbanec (talk) 19:14, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Changed the proposed wording a little bit, see [1]. Could you review the banner, please? --Martin Urbanec (talk) 19:23, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The following banner text looks fine: "Recommendations by Wikimedia strategy working groups on what to improve about the Wikimedia projects were published. They are drafts, your input is welcome." George Ho (talk) 19:32, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As for the deadline, probably either the beginning or end of November. The WMF or working groups haven't given specific date yet on when the discussion ends. George Ho (talk) 19:34, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks. Could you get the banner text translated to few major languages? The link to translation interface is in the banner itself. Thanks! --Martin Urbanec (talk) 19:54, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I posted a help notice at Wikimedia Forum. George Ho (talk) 20:54, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Also answered one of questions. George Ho (talk) 21:31, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I recently noticed that the second iteration of the draft recommendations were published. How would this affect the CentralNotice proposal? Must I narrow the target to every current iteration whenever newer iteration arrives? George Ho (talk) 22:28, 22 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Approved Approved, campaign settings to be clarified. @George Ho: Could you please clarify when should your banner be displayed? "August 2019 → October or November 2019" is too ambigous (and long). Is there any deadline, or timeframe when you would like to attract more users? I also assume you want to target only logged in users. --Martin Urbanec (talk) 19:17, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
