Hi User:JKoerner_(WMF), Just a quick question/clarification. Is this for logged-in users? I am asking because the French fundraising banners will be on the fr WP throughout October for non-logged in users. --JBrungs (WMF) (talk) 06:36, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, JBrungs (WMF), This will be for logged-in users. Best, JKoerner (WMF) (talk) 20:09, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there, @DerHexer: Is there any update on this banner? Do you or other admins have feedback? Best, JKoerner (WMF) (talk) 16:08, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@JKoerner (WMF): Some remarks: The proposed dates overlap with a couple of other campaigns but this can probably not be avoided. Wrt “Eligible voters: logged in users with more than 300 edits after a certain date. This date is to be determined.”: Will you provide the banner source code for that implementation? To date, we only get current local edit count and registration date easily from MediaWiki variables. We can calculate with these two numbers but not in the way as proposed. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 20:00, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@DerHexer: Thanks for the quick response and your attention on this. I believe we want to do the same thing as with the Board election banner and it does not need to be so specific about eligible voters. That is probably too complex. Please let me know if you need more information or support on this. Best, JKoerner (WMF) (talk) 22:07, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If the various election pages/systems (including Meta page(s) and voting compass) are not ready by the time this would start, I recommend delaying the notice until things are ready. (Note: The current banner still links to "Meta:Example".) --Yair rand (talk) 23:59, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The banner currently states "Vote until October 25", but the vote ends halfway through that date (at 12:00 UTC). Should the banner be modified somehow, so that voters don't mistakenly think they have until the end of the 25th to vote? --Yair rand (talk) 00:35, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Yair rand: Thanks for the note and sorry for the late reply. I just saw it now. I'm sure that the WMF will take that into concern for next elections. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 22:16, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • @JKoerner (WMF): I've created the campaign and banner. Please check that and the banner display. I did not add the 300 edits parts as this is not easily doable with global edit count (unlike local edit count, there is not a MediaWiki variable for that available). The logo looks pretty small, and it has a created-by part which I personally would not add to a banner. I've enabled translations for the sentence, I think that this was originally intended. Please ping me with your feedback. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 20:59, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@DerHexer: Thanks a lot! Could you replace the icon by the standard Wikimedia logo as for the Board elections? We didn't find an adequate logo or icon in time, so we'll stick to what we have. Also, as we're using the same banner for the entire time (right?), could you replace "Vote now" by "Vote until October 25!"? Thank you. -00:15, 8 October 2021 (UTC) PS: Can you link me the page for translating the banner text? --Cornelius Kibelka (WMF) (talk to me) 14:08, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@CKibelka (WMF): I've changed the banner as requested, please check again the “banner display” link above. I've also adjusted the text, but if you ping me some time before 27 October, I could manually change the English. However, translations also had to be updated. The previous text with “Vote now!” have already been translated and need corrections now. The link to the translation page is mentioned in the banner, it's this one. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 21:52, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Done On hold The campaign is running. It seems that everything works as intended. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 10:21, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@JKoerner (WMF) and CKibelka (WMF): There have been some problems with the right SecurePoll link (it's missing in the request here under the attribute “landing page”) so that the campaign was disabled. The banners should be fixed now. Please tell me if I can re-enable the campaign. I've heard that the list is not the right one. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 10:59, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@KVaidla (WMF), Seddon (WMF), and Seddon: I'm pinging you, too, because I've heard or seen some involvement of you. —DerHexer (Talk) 11:03, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I really apologize for the confusion! We need to make a fix in the SecurePoll and during that time the voting cannot happen and the banner would need to be disabled. As I understand there might be a new link to vote, as SecurePoll will get restarted. We will notify as soon as we have resolved the issue. Thank you for your kind patience and support! --KVaidla (WMF) (talk) 11:12, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Understood. The banner is complete (except for the new SecurePoll link) so that we can start it when you, too, are ready again. —DerHexer (Talk) 11:15, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your support! It seems that the SecurePoll is fixed and ready to go again. It will restart tomorrow, October 12, 10:00 UTC.
The SecurePoll link can be substituted with the landing page we have created Movement_Charter/Drafting_Committee/Elections, as this gives some more framing for the elections and has a big blue button for vote. We have marked it for translations and are working on the translations now. I am available for any further questions! --KVaidla (WMF) (talk) 16:54, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I've fixed the link in the banner. —DerHexer (Talk) 21:49, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Done I've enabled it again. @KVaidla (WMF): One note: At the moment, the voting page says “On the voting page is a sequence of dropdown boxes. Starting from the top of the page, select the candidates in order of preference, from "Preference 1" (most preferred) to "Preference 19" (least preferred).” although there are 70 preferences. This might be a C&P error of a previous vote which could still be changed, I think. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 10:14, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
