Hi

[edit]

The fundraising banner mentions Wikipedia, by saying " Hi reader. This is the 3rd time we’ve interrupted your reading recently, but 98% of our readers don't give. Many think they’ll give later, but then forget. This Friday we ask you to protect Wikipedia. All we ask is $2.75, or what you can afford, to secure our future. We ask you, humbly: Please don't scroll away. If you are one of our rare donors, we warmly thank you."

It does not mention sister wikis, or the word "Wikimedia" with a link to www.wikimedia.org which lists the sister projects.

The fundraising banner appears to also be absent at sister wikis.

Could you please fix these two issues?

Please let me know if you'd like this issue to be raised in Phabricator instead. Thank you!

Regards, --Gryllida 20:47, 9 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your feedback Gryllida. We only run banners on Wikipedia itself and not on the sister projects in order to reduce disruptions for editors and readers. Below the banner you find the following text:
Problems donating? | Other ways to give | Frequently asked questions | We never sell your information. By submitting, you are agreeing to our donor privacy policy. The Wikimedia Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization. If you make a recurring donation, you will be debited by the Wikimedia Foundation until you notify us to stop. We'll send you an email which will include a link to easy cancellation instructions.
In there we state that the fundraising campaign is run by the Wikimedia Foundation and you can find more details on this in the linked FAQs as well. Best wishes, JBrungs (WMF) (talk) 06:50, 13 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Fundraiser banners

[edit]

Hi Julia,

Happy new year, hope you are well.

I noticed there are no Central Notice fundraiser campaigns for 2022 planned in the banner calendar yet. Is this an oversight, or is WMF holding of fundraising at the moment? Just making sure, so all can keep on coordinating the banners through this overview in the calendar. Ciell (talk) 21:25, 4 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Ciell,
Thanks for flagging this! I will add the ones that are scheduled in the next week. Happy new year to you too! JBrungs (WMF) (talk) 06:43, 10 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Great, thanks! Ciell (talk) 08:56, 10 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Fundraiser Italy

[edit]

Hi Julia,

For Italy, there will be a banner for International Women's Day on 8th of March. Would it be possible to start the fundraising banner on March 9 or 10 for instance? Activities for Celebrate Women will go on all through the month of March and the banner for registered users is planned accordingly (though with a slimmer diet for the rest of the month), and I have a very small campaign for anonymous users set up as well, for the three days leading up to March 8th. Ciell (talk) 11:58, 3 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for flagging this @Ciell. That is no problem, I will change the start date to the 9th or 10th (still checking which date is best for us). Best, JBrungs (WMF) (talk) 17:21, 3 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Julia! Ciell (talk) 18:55, 3 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Ciell,
So we will start the Italian banners on the 9th. I will change the CN entrance now. Have a good Celebrate Women campaign! JBrungs (WMF) (talk) 06:46, 4 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thank you!! Ciell (talk) 09:14, 4 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia survey, timetable

[edit]

hi @JBrungs (WMF)

this message to keep you posted about our survey. You'll find here the languages targeted (even if there is not always a translator indicated, as we did not put their name if they did not expressly agree upon).

Our questionnaire is nearly ready in French and in English, we are in the test phase, so we should be ready to broadcast by mi-April. As indicated in the central notice request, we do not need to do all the languages in the same time, so we have flexibility for the banners. What we would really like to have is a 2-week period for each language for the banner.

I must say that, if you had time, I would need help for the banner design, as well as the design of the landing pages.

thanks in advance, and I wish you a nice week-end! Jullienn (talk) 15:44, 17 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for keeping me updated @Jullienn.
Good luck with everything.
In case of banner and landing page design help, maybe ask in the Central Notice request and admin if they, or someone else can help. I am sadly not the right person for this.
Best, JBrungs (WMF) (talk) 09:53, 20 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for keeping me updated@JBrungs, Great ! Great!! Great!!! Lucky to all, In advance have a nice weekend. Regards. AL42925 (talk) 14:57, 21 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi @JBrungs (WMF),
I come back to you regarding the banner request and the calendar: I have no answer from the central notice managers, here https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/CentralNotice
and I don't know whether I did something wrong, or if there is another problem. Regarding the calendar, I think we will pass the survey in Italian between May, 18 and May 31, even if it is not exactly 2 weeks, to fit with your calendar if it's ok for you.
Thanks! Jullienn (talk) 08:40, 26 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Jullienn,
I am sorry you had no response. As all volunteers, the Central Notice admins can be very busy. Maybe try tagging them again?
I see no problems with running your banners in Italy in May.
All the best, Julia JBrungs (WMF) (talk) 09:31, 26 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Movement Charter Drafting Committee's monthly newsletter

[edit]

Updates:

  • Charter Ratification Methodology proposal conversations: The Movement Charter Drafting Committee recently held the first conversations regarding the ratification methodology for the Movement Charter. The MCDC has received valuable feedback from different communities and the Committees during the community input period. The report of the community input will be shared in May, while the updated version of the ratification methodology will be presented between September and November 2023.
  • Communication evaluation: The Communications sub-committee of the MCDC together with the support staff conducted an evaluation of the communications. The Communications sub-committee appreciates the time and input of the community members who shared their opinions during the interviews. Several recommendations are going to be implemented in the upcoming period based on the valuable input.
  • Learn about the MCDC’s work in April: The MCDC continues to draft additional chapters: The Global Council, Hubs, Decision-making and Roles & Responsibilities. Alongside the drafting work, the MCDC is planning their in-person meeting scheduled for 2-4 June in Utrecht, Netherlands with the aim of advancing the charter's content.

Updates

  • Community consultation: The community consultation on the Global Council, Hubs, and the Glossary drafts is ongoing. We value your input, if you have not already, please take a moment to review the draft chapters and share your thoughts with the MCDC. We’ve posed open questions we would like your opinion on. Feel free to engage in a way that is most comfortable for you and your community. Learn more on our Diff blogs about the Global Council and Hubs.
  • Launch Party: On July 30 we hosted a Launch Party to share the Global Council and Hubs draft chapters. It was an inspiring event where we had the opportunity to listen to your feedback and address some of your questions. If you missed it, you can catch the recording on YouTube.
  • Community Conversations: We want to hear from as many people as possible. On July 16, the SWAN meeting opened its doors and offered an opportunity to interact with the MCDC members regarding the new drafts of the charter. Notes are available here. On July 28, a regional conversation with the Francophone community was held. Here comes a short summary here in English and French. Additionally, on August 2 we had a fruitful conversation with the LATAM region.
  • MCDC’s Work in July: As usual, the update includes information about the meetings held by the Committee in this month, as well as about the work that was completed and the ongoing work & discussions.
