What is the purpose of Campaign? How will you measure the success of the campaign?[edit]

Description - This will be held from Saturday 15th October to Sunday 27th November. It is a general stub elimination contest, with the intention to cover all topics. The idea is simple: blast away as many of our 37,000 + Africa stubs as possible! All that is required for this is basic article expansions and improvements. To "destub" an article all you have to do is ensure it's minimum 1.5 kb (1500 characters) readable prose in total. The existing text and text you add is expected to all be verifiable and adequately sourced to reliable sources, with the expected Wikipedia:Citations drawn up. Whoever "destubs" the most articles for a given country wins a prize, and whoever wins the most "destubs" for the most countries will be crowned the overall winner. There will be a significant prizes for the people who destub the most articles on geography and wildlife and the most articles on women throughout the month. This project is being run in a way to support Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red and Wiki Loves Women project

Metrics - There are 37,000 + Africa stubs to deal with... success would be... dunno... anyone ? A figure for this ?

What banner(s) will you use? What will be your landing page?[edit]

Community Feedback[edit]

  • Checking the current site notice program, the call would collide mostly with the Terms of Use Campaign (all) and with the WMF fundraising (several countries for anon). It should be irrelevant to France and Italy fundraising campaigns. My personal suggestion would be to do it for "Only logged in". And to "Drop editors with low count edit (less than 50)". I do not think this project is the right fit for brand new editors. I think it is more a right fit for regular and occasional editors. The destubathon is planned to run about 6 weeks. I would not advise keeping the banner at the top all the time of the campaign ;) It would be nice to have a quick start display in the first part of the campaign for a few days (somewhere 15-25 october); and perhaps a reminder mid term (7-14 november) and a last push in the final days (25-27 november). • Hello. The Challenge is starting in 2 days and we have not received any feedback yet. I am not even quite sure who the CN admin is. Is that you user:Seddon (WMF) ? If not, can you tell us who we could contact ? Thanks Anthere (talk) 18:35, 13 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Central Notice Admin comments[edit]

Comment @Anthere: Have you gotten consensus approval from the village pump on the English Wikipedia for running these banners? Seddon (talk) 20:06, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

uh. I did not know I had to :) Let me drop a word now. Anthere (talk)
I am tempted to say that there is no obvious opposition.... [1] @User:Seddon... Anthere (talk)

Approved Approved @Anthere: thank you for that. I also like the structure you've proposed. It's pretty late but I will try and get to this asap. Seddon (WMF) (talk) 03:07, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
