[edit]
Description - This is a survey run by Wikimedia Germany.

There are currently no metrics or baselines on community demographics and their diversity for Wikidata. Thus, showing improvement in this area is hard.

A brief survey of core demographics would provide us with a baseline for future diversity efforts. It can also serve as a foundation for more concrete and cause-and-effect research in the future

Metrics - We have no baseline of how many responses to expect except a far longer community survey done by colleagues at the WMF. We aim for 100 survey responses.

What banner(s) will you use? What will be your landing page?

[edit]
Banners - WMDE_Wikidata_Diversity (If you have the primary sources gadget enabled, you will see an alert. This is not a bug caused by the banner itself.

Landing Page - The Survey. There is also a Page on Wikidata with a description of the survey
[edit]
Type of grant - No grant

Link to grant - No grant

Hi @Ciell and DerHexer: is there anything missing or anything we could do to move forward with this request? :) Thanks in advance for your help, Lea Lacroix (WMDE) (talk) 14:59, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Looks pretty good to me. Can you add a link to the project page either in the banner or in the survey? I think that this will help others learning about the backgrounds. As you intend to have it delivered to all languages (despite having the survey only in a couple of languages available—which is fine with me), I suggest to enable the translate extension for the project page so that volunteers can help you with translations about the background there. Thanks in advance and best, —DerHexer (Talk) 17:57, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Lea Lacroix (WMDE): Forgot the ping. —DerHexer (Talk) 17:57, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the recommendations @DerHexer: I included a link to the project page in the survey. I'll also figure out how to enable the translate extension. --Raja Gumienny (WMDE) (talk) 11:00, 19 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Translation willbe made possible by the admin implementing the banner. We can do that before the banner goes live, if you provide the translations to us. Ciell (talk) 23:07, 19 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Just to add that we already went ahead and enabled translations for the page. Mohammed Sadat (WMDE) (talk) 12:24, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Could you also include information about privacy etc. of the survey? Please also take note of the banner guidelines for surveys. Ciell (talk) 19:51, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ciell: On the survey we gave the information that all data is collected anonymously, all questions are voluntary, and the software platform we are using is GDPR compliant (it's Lamapoll, hosted in Germany and was checked thoroughly by WMDE, more information here (unfortunately only in German). --Raja Gumienny (WMDE) (talk) 11:00, 19 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Raja Gumienny (WMDE): Still our users have to right to read on the policies of a third party tool they are being led to by our banners, before they visit the site. Please include this information on a landing page or in the banner. Ciell (talk) 23:07, 19 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ciell: Hello Ciell, I asked the developers we work with to a link to be added to the banner, leading to the page with infos on privacy and the survey questions. On this page, I also added information and links to the legal documents regarding the used survey platform. --Jan Dittrich (WMDE) (talk) 12:23, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, looks good to me! Ciell (talk) 10:38, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ciell: Great! The developer I work with added the link to the banner, too, as you can see when you click the banner test link. Is there anything that is still missing from my side that I can provide? If not, is there a rough estimate when the banner could be activated? --Jan Dittrich (WMDE) (talk) 13:18, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Jan Dittrich (WMDE): I'm afraid this is beyond my basic knowledge of the CN. Maybe DerHexer or Martin Urbanec can help. Do you have the html code for us available somewhere? Has it been tested on all devices (laptop/iPad/Android/IOS/other)? Ciell (talk) 12:34, 27 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well, won't it be activated by WMDE staff anyways? When all tests are completed, I don't see any reason not to proceed. I'm just a little confused by the start and end date of the campaign but I'm sure that it will be adjusted once it will be activated (alongside the impression diet and such). Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 14:04, 27 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
