[edit]
Description - To attract greater participation at regional Wikipedia Day events in the US through WALRUS, and possibly elsewhere in North America through Wikimedians of the Caribbean User Group or others. These are usually the largest non-editathon meetups of the calendar year, often take the form of a one-day Wikipedia Day unconference, are suitable for newbies looking to become more engaged, and have been held annually in New York City since 2010, in Los Angeles since 2017, and sometimes elsewhere. This request is unusual because we are asking for subnational banners for local events in particular US states, see last year's request at CentralNotice/Request/Wikipedia Day US 2019.

Metrics - Will be measured by participation at the meetups.

What banner(s) will you use? What will be your landing page?

Discussion

[edit]
  • As an event organizer, I've found geotargetted banners to be a large help for event turnout. For example, the geotargeted banner for Wikipedia Day 2019 Chicago drove hundreds of pageviews to the event page, and turnout was the largest for a Chicago event in years. A CentralNotice would help publicize the upcoming NYC and LA events, which is a positive thing. Airplaneman 22:21, 22 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • This banner will be useful to the efforts of communities aiming to build capacity in the Caribbean of new Wikimedia editors. It would allow those yet reached and invitation to connect to the greater Wiki community.Shanluan (talk)
