By geography[edit]

Here you can propose location-specific messages that you think would work particularly well in that geography. They can also be non revenue-oriented, so that they will implemented to attract non-financial contributions in case the local financial revenue raised by fundraising does not support the continued use of an appeal message.

America[edit]

Chile[edit]

Translation: Manuel Rodríguez, José Miguel Carrera, Bernardo O'Higgins, amidst others, fought for the freedom of Chile...
We invite you to fight for the freedom of the knowledge! Donate now.

  • A bit political, isn't it? We're fighting for free knowledge, not independence of countries --Church of emacs talk · contrib 14:26, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
    • Yeah, but apart from being political icons, I suggested this because the Bicentennial of Chile is coming and it is in my opinion a bit catchy :) --Diego Grez return fire 17:28, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
      • I think it would be good to test. We can geotarget to the country. Jalexander 03:44, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

China[edit]

Translation: Filial piety and respect for your elders come first; knowledge comes second. For knowledge, please donate.
Proposed by: User:Kayau. On scope? n/d. Tested? n/d. Income: n/d. Discarded: n/d.
  • Uh... piety comes first? Arguable, plus the WMF ain't here to tell people what to do. On what scale do piety and knowledge compare? I'd also note that Simplified Chinese would probably reach a wider audience, but I may be wrong about that. sonia 09:28, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
    • It's a parody of the first line of the second stanza of the Three Character Classic. Is it possible to switch between simp and trad depending on the variety the user has chosen by clicking on the tab? Kayau WP WB ZHWB WN 12:07, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Translation: When Xiang was 9 he could warm his bed for his father; when Rong was 4 he could let his brother have a bigger pear; when Ying wass 8 he could read poems; when Mi was 7 he could play chess. They were small, and they were moral; how old do you have to be to donate?
