Description: Join us at the upcoming GLAM Wikimedia Conference for an exciting and interactive Connectathon focused on improving connections, and mutual relations, but also on the development of ideas related to the improvement of the GLAM program, as well as the Wikimedia movement. This event is designed to bring together all the conference participants passionate about sharing knowledge and preserving cultural heritage. The Connectathon is an open, fun, and safe space for participants of the Conference to share their common interests and skills while embodying the "Let’s Connect" spirit of peer connection, inclusion, and collaboration. This event aims to connect conference participants in an informal yet enriching way, fostering deep discussions on topics important to the conference and to the Wikimedia movement. At the heart of the Connectathon is the desire to create an environment where diverse voices and perspectives come together. Participants will leave with enriched skills, new connections, and a deeper understanding of collaboration in the Wikimedia and GLAM communities. They'll carry forward the Let's Connect spirit, empowered to contribute meaningfully to open knowledge and cultural heritage preservation.			Experience level: Begginer

Description: In this session, you will learn about the Malayalam Mala Project (from Kerala, India) and One Year of Wiki Loves Música Portuguesa: how a thematic campaign helped create a strategic path for GLAM at Wikimedia Portugal. The Malayalam Mala Project is a Wikimedia initiative to collect and preserve the lyrics of Malayalam malas, which are traditional songs of praise sung by Muslims in Kerala. Malas are a rich part of Kerala's cultural heritage, and they provide a unique way to learn about the history and traditions of the region. The Malayalam Mala Project is part of the GLAM project in Kerala, which is a larger initiative to digitize and preserve Kerala's cultural heritage. The Malayalam Mala Project collected the lyrics from a variety of sources, including manuscripts, published works, and oral tradition. The lyrics will be transcribed into Unicode and uploaded to Wikisource.To bring these malas to life, the project encouraged singers from the local community to record and share their renditions of these odes. These audio recordings will be made available in Wikimedia Commons, ensuring wider accessibility and preserving these traditional melodies for future generations. The campaign Wiki Loves Música Portuguesa launched in November 2022. The project was developed as an aggregator: on one hand, it would leverage the ongoing Wikimedian residency at NOVA FCSH; on the other hand, the wide scope of the project could enhance other partnerships for Wikimedia Portugal, particularly regarding cultural heritage. Indeed, the initiative sparked multiple partnerships with other institutions, including Portugal's national public service broadcaster, amongst others, revolutionizing the work at WMPT. In this session, we will showcase our biggest achievements, reflect on the biggest challenges we faced and get feedback from the GLAM Wiki community on how we can do better. Description: In 2023, Art+Feminism completed its tenth year of operation. From its founding to today, the organization continues to work to decrease the knowledge gap regarding gender on the internet and art world while continuing to expand the visibility and knowledge about femme-identified artists in museum collections globally. This panel will contribute to discussions about and connect GLAM professionals to international efforts on the representation of feminism, art and visual culture on Wikimedia projects highlighting its potential societal impact on media literacy. The audience will learn from the unique perspectives of Art+Feminism’s Regional Leaders. In detail, this session will explore how museums and cultural organizations can broaden their efforts toward tangible actions to address access and knowledge equity through media literacy and inclusive learning programs. Providing foreground to this session, a case study about how the Caribbean Cultural Institute at Pérez Art Museum Miami, and Art+Feminism — “a campaign improving coverage of cis and transgender women, non-binary folks, feminism, and the arts on Wikipedia” — were paired in the development of media literacy programs will launch the conversation into how museums can have an impact on younger generations and openly share museum scholarship online. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on the implications of one of the largest online encyclopedias on art museums, libraries and organizations in different regions of the world. Participants will leave the session inspired to implement mission-driven innovative avenues for audience engagement, media literacy, and critical thinking through diverse art narratives in their institutions. We also hope participants engage in the A+F campaign, contribute to discussions and advance equitable practices around museum access and content development in their affiliated institutions. Description: The Campaign Product team has begun deploying features of Event Registration and Discovery to Meta Wiki. With the first deployment of features in 2023, this workshop will show how to use the tool, give folks a chance to express interest in it, and help give feedback on key features. Participants will understand how the Event Registration feature works, learn about upcoming event discovery features, and learn how to ask for access to the first version of the tool.
