Project Goal:

  • To organize a large scale celebration of 10th Anniversary of Wikipedia reaching out to large audience about the Wikipedia,Wikimedia and the movement in general.

What lessons were learned that could help others succeed in similar projects?

  • Organizing capability and strengthing of the Bangalore commuinity was a big learning from the event

What impact did the project have on WMF mission goals of Increased Reach, Increased Quality, Increased Credibility, Increased and Diversified Participation?

  • Significant number of participants got a glimpse of inner workings of Wikipedia by its volunteers.
  • More contributors to the movement, Significant being Revival of Oriya Wikipedia was made possible by an existing active Wikimedian and a enthusiast who attended the event, who is now spearheading Wiki movement into Oriya.

Detail of expenditures:

The funds remaining from this grant in the amount of {{{amount}}} were deducted from another grant payment for Grants:Pradeep Mohandas and Pranav Curumsey - Wikimedia Chapter, India and Mumbai and Pune WikiCommunities /WikiConference India 2011.
  • Food was sponsored by Microsoft Research India and direct payment was made.
  • Venue was sponsored by NIAS
  • There were some petty expenditure incurred by members though and they are fine not having the same reimbursed.


Amount underspent in US Dollars:

  • 600$. The entire event eventually got sponsorship from corporates and the grant money was unutilized.
