」北海道は東京から北へ約1000キロ離れた島。冬はマイナス30度。熊が町に出没する。ロシアまで約40キロ。領土問題がある。先住民族アイヌの文化継承を残さないといけない。日本の面積約22％の北海道は広大な土地だが、公共交通が大変少なく不便である。その北海道各地にウィキペディアタウンに興味を持ってもらい、積極的、継続的に編集を行ってもらうことを目的とする。 ・北海道ではウィキペディアタウンを知らない人がとても多い。周知することで、今後、関心が高まることが期待できる。 ・編集したいという気持ちになっていくことでウィキペディアンの増加が期待できる。 ・その住民同士のコミュニケーションが高まる。 ・その町の観光協会、学校現場、生涯学習、移住促進にも繋がる。 ・北海道の情報や知識を世界へもっと配信できるようになる。

・北海道の中で最も人口が集中する札幌から、300キロほど離れた十勝地方にフォーカスする。公共図書館で実施する。2024年5月下旬を予定している。 ・十勝地方は北海道のほぼ真ん中に位置し、農業がとても盛ん。 ・この地域で生まれ育った人々は十勝に対して高いプライドがあり、町に対する愛情が強いと思う。 ・北海道は面積が広いが、公共交通が大変少ないので、移動にとても時間がかかり宿泊も必要とする２泊３日で計画している。 ・町民に広報するだけでなく、その地域の教育現場や観光支援、移住促進担当などへも、ウィキペディアタウンの魅力を理解してもらうような会とする。 その町からもウィキペディアンが誕生し、自らも積極的に、かつ継続的に運営することを促せる。 ・十勝にもたくさんの町があるので、少しずつ他の町にもPRして、十勝だけでなく北海道全域に広げる活動をしたいと考えている。そしてそれぞれの町にウィキペディアンが誕生し、各地でウィキペディアタウンプロジェクトが日常生活に入ればと願う。

北海道在住、私「薫子のパン」は全体のコーディネートを担当。 西日本在住、ウィキペディアユーザー「漱石の猫」に北海道へ来てもらい、指導と講義を行う。 北海道在住司書２名アシスタント。 １名は中学校図書館、もう１名は公共図書館の司書。 ２名はウィキペディアタウン編集に強い関心を持つことから、それぞれの地域や図書館でも運営することを期待している。

・十勝地方の幕別町図書館にてターゲットとする文化施設に参加者と一緒に訪問。図書館に戻り講義を受け、図書館の資料なども活用しながら調べて目標として１行以上加筆するようにする。幕別町の司書はウィキペディア編集に強い関心あり。 高校生以上で10名程度とする。 ・十勝地方の芽室町もしくは音更町図書館にて「ウィキペディアタウンの魅力」について「漱石の猫」より講義することで、興味と理解を広げる活動をする。中学生以上で30名ほどとする。 ・それぞれの図書館から町民に募集する。募集方法は図書館での掲示ポスター、チラシ、HP、SNSなど。 終了後、アンケートにて参加者に要望や意見、今後の目標など記載してもらう。 その内容を集約して次のステップに進むよう促進する。
