The Wikimedia Foundation project is a global project that promotes free knowledge and it is being carried out by volunteers around the globe irrespective of gender, tribe, religion, or any other factors. However, according to research carried out by the foundation here 87 percent of Wikipedians are male and 13 percent are female. Coming down to Northeaster Nigeria, there have been dearths of women Editors and most of the active editors are men . For instance, at the WUGN Train the Trainer Project of 2023, only three Women participated (I and other two)) as it can be seen here [1] Therefore, as an active woman and a certified Wikimedia User Group Nigeria Train the Trainer, I believe I can carry out a project that would address this pressing issue in Northeastern Nigeria.

Approaches

1. Recruiting and Training of Women Editors: twenty five women participants will be selected across different women writing groups. They will be trained on how to edit Wikipedia, Wikidata and uploading pictures on Wiki Common.
2. Adding and Improving Contents about Women: The project would be tailored toward given priority to notable women articles with aim towards balancing the contents on Wikipedia and it's sisters' projects.
3. Adding them to existing group: For sustainability, the trained editors would be added to Wikimedia User Group Nigeria where they will continue to receive constant support, training and motivation to continue their editing journey.
7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.

Online and Physical Awareness: As a member of different women's intellectual forums, I will leverage on these groups to create massive awareness about Wikimedia Foundation projects and the need to close gender gaps. I have also informed the groups that are very close to my community and I will be working with them to create physical awareness too and be able to recruit twenty five participants that will be needed for the project.

Two Online Trainings: To make the training more effective, we would be having two online trainings that would be facilitated by women in order to serve as motivation for the new editors.

Two physical trainings: In order to have hands on experience training, we will be having two physical trainings in which all the participants would be introduced to Wikimedia foundation and properly guided on how to contribute to the projects.

Monitored Edit-a-thon: After the participants have been well trained and guided on how to contribute to Wikimedia Foundation projects, there will be two weeks closely monitored edit-a-thon where the participants would be able to contribute to the projects.

Certificate and prize presentation: The participants will be certified and top three editors would be awarded with prizes.
