1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

This project seeks to create a more reliable avenue for the participants to explore information be it written, visual, pictorial, or audio on Wikipedia, engage/recruit new editors across different gender and age groups, promotes people awareness on Wikipedia and other sister projects and add/improve contents on Wikipedia.

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

1. Permission had been granted and all arrangements made with the polytechnic management with regard to programme venue within the polytechnic compound.

2. Wikipedia branded jotters and pens, t-shirts, tags, and hand bands for female students would be used for the campaign throughout the programme.
3. Pamphlets and stickers would also be produced with vision and mission statements of Wikimedia foundation clearly written on each cover page and a brief introductory notes on Wikipedia.
3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

To promote Wikimedia movement activities at Federal Polytechnic Bauchi (FPTB), there is need to build a strong and stable network. Hence this project would cover the following activities:

1. Open-Campaign: this will involve sensitization talks within the different departments of the polytechnic.
2. Edit-a-ton: this involves session for introduction to editing (hands-on-keyboard) training.
3. We would assigned an article to each participant and monitor them through an outreach dashboard.
4. A separately created whatsapp group would be used for further coaching of the participants after the conduct of the event.

Yes This programme would be executed by the following experience editors:

1. Ibrahim442 Project coordinator: he is an experienced editor and facilitated numerous events such as Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon at Federal University Gashua, Wikimania2022 Satellite Event, Fulfulde Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon at Government Girls Science and Technical College Potiskum, Wikidata Workshop at Potiskum Town Hall Secretariat, and won awards in many Wikipedia contest such as W4HR 2022 among others.
2. Musaddam Idriss Co-facilitator: he is a seasoned editor with several contributions and awards that cut-across Wikipedia, Wikidata, and Wiki commons to his credit. He coordinated different projects like Photowalk@Bauchi, Wikipedia Awareness Campaign at Potiskum Metroplis, Wikidata, Wikimania 2022 Satellite Event, Thematic weeks and lots more.
3. Abubakar A Gwanki is a highly experience editor who executed and co-facilitated a number of projects such as Wikidata, Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon at Potiskum Town Hall Secretariat, Photowalks and many more.
4. Awwerl is an experience editor, project lead and facilitator in various events such as Wikipedia, Wikidata, and Wikimania 2022 among others.

Although polytechnic students are usually faced with a lot of problems sourcing information online for their academic projects write-ups, little did they know that they can contributes and as well access and download (text books, videos, pictures, and audios) contents from wikipedia thus:

1. The project would create and promotes community building.
2. It would increase numbers of Wikipedia editors.
3. It would increase Wikipedia contents and enhanced peoples understanding of Wikimedia movement.

Targeted participants for this programme are Higher National Diploma (HND) and National Diploma (ND) students of the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi. On a one-on-one contact, I will engage the newly recruited editors on lectures, discussions (hands-on-keyboard) training, and questions and answers sessions. Follow-ups would be made through Whatsapp group for further discussions.

10. In what ways are you actively seeking to contribute towards creating a safer, supportive, more equitable environment for participants?

Participants would be taught about Wikimedia friendly space policy and the universal code of conduct. Also arrangements have been made with management of the polytechnic for the released of an ICT friendly laboratory for smooth conduct of the programme.

1. I have the necessary technical skills needed to impart to the newly recruited editors and the required competence to address any learning difficulties they may likely encounter during or after the training programme. Hence I hope this project would yield the desired outcome.
