The change we aim to bring through the introduction of WikiFunction to the Hausa user group is to empower group members to participate more actively in the Wikimedia technical space, particularly in technological innovation. And the main challenges we aim to tackle include the digital divide and language barriers. To achieve this, we plan to conduct training sessions to introduce and contribute to WikiFunction' s, i.e. To teach members on how to implement functions and also translate already existing WikiFunction to Hausa language. Overall, our goal is to enable group members to actively participate in contributing to WikiFunction thereby making abstract Wikipedia a reality.

- Training sessions led by JosefAnthony and Lucas Werkmeister on implementing WikiFunctions.

  • Translation workshops conducted by JosefAnthony to translate existing functions into the Hausa language.
  • Facilitation of project activities and technical support provided by AgnesAbah during training sessions and workshops.
  • Promotion of the event within the community by Gwanki through various channels such as social media, community forums, and local organizations.
  • Language support provided by Gwanki to ensure that participants can comprehend and engage with the content effectively.

The target participants are people who understand Hausa Language and are interested in contributing to WikiFunctions.. They are members of the Hausa Wikimedia User Group. We will use focused outreach strategies, such as social media campaigns, adverts on all existing platforms members are already in, to engage participants prior to the events. We will also conduct informational sessions and community meetings to introduce the project and gather feedback from potential participants. During the activities, we will maintain engagement through interactive workshops, hands-on training sessions, and collaborative coding sessions.

We spoke with Hausa Wikimedia User Group members about the project proposal using a variety of channels, such as social media(Telegram and WhatsApp group), and on-wiki conversations.
