The change we are trying to bring through our Wikipedia project on "Empowering Hausa Women Authors and Writers: Bridging the Digital Divide through Wikipedia Engagement" is to increase visibility, recognition, and representation of Hausa women authors and writers on a global platform like Wikipedia. We aim to address the main challenges and problems faced by Hausa women in accessing digital platforms and having their work celebrated and shared with a wider audience.

The main challenges we are trying to solve include:

1. Lack of visibility: Hausa women authors and writers often do not receive the recognition they deserve for their literary contributions due to limited access to digital platforms where their work can be shared and accessed by a global audience.

2. Digital divide: Many Hausa women face barriers in accessing and engaging with digital platforms like Wikipedia, which limits their ability to showcase their work and connect with readers and other writers.

Our approach to address these challenges includes:

1. Creating Wikipedia pages for notable Hausa women authors and writers: By creating individual Wikipedia pages for Hausa women authors and writers, we aim to increase their visibility and celebrate their contributions to literature.

2. Engaging with the Hausa women community: We plan to collaborate with Hausa women authors and writers to gather information about their works and create accurate and engaging Wikipedia articles that showcase their achievements.

3. Promoting digital literacy: As part of our project, we will provide resources and support to help Hausa women authors and writers improve their digital skills and increase their participation in Hausa Wikipedia.

Through these approaches, we hope to bridge the digital divide and empower Hausa women authors and writers to share their stories, perspectives, and literary works with a wider audience, ultimately bringing about positive change in the representation and recognition of Hausa women in the literary world.

7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.

Planned Activities:

1. Organize a two-day physical training session: The project will kick off with a two-day physical training session aimed at providing newly recruited editors with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively navigate the Wikipedia platform. Participants will receive hands-on training on creating user accounts, editing articles, fixing errors, and utilizing various features of Wikipedia.

2. Conduct two days of online training: Following the physical training, the project will offer two additional days of online training to ensure that editors are equipped with the tools and resources needed to continue contributing to Wikipedia. The online training will cover advanced editing techniques, guidelines for writing articles, and strategies for engaging with the Wikipedia community.

3. Editing workshops: Throughout the project, editing workshops will be organized to provide editors with opportunities to practice their skills, receive feedback, and improve their proficiency in editing Wikipedia pages. These workshops will focus on refining editing techniques, addressing common errors, and enhancing the overall quality of content.

4. Article writing sessions: Participants will engage in article writing sessions to create and update Wikipedia pages for Hausa women authors and writers. These sessions will involve researching, drafting, and publishing articles that highlight the achievements and contributions of Hausa women in literature.

5. Social media platform creation: A key component of the project will be the establishment of social media platforms to promote the work of Hausa women authors and writers, as well as to attract new editors to join the initiative. These platforms will serve as a space for sharing project updates, engaging with the community, and recruiting individuals interested in contributing to Wikipedia.

By implementing these planned activities, the project aims to empower Hausa women authors and writers by providing them with the necessary training and support to engage with Wikipedia effectively. Through a combination of physical and online training sessions, editing workshops, article writing sessions, and social media promotion, the project seeks to bridge the digital divide and amplify the voices of Hausa women in the literary world.
