6. What is the change you are trying to bring? What are the main challenges or problems you are trying to solve? Describe this change or challenges, as well as main approaches to achieve it. (required)

The change we strive to bring revolves around deepening community involvement, building capacity and introducing the community to movement discussions, improving editor retention, fostering community development, and promoting female-focused initiatives within the Fante Wikimedians Community.

Building upon the successes of our previous grant, our primary aim is to empower our community members further. We seek to bolster editor retention as editor retention continues to be particularly important in sustaining the momentum of new and experienced editors. Most community members have little or no idea about the broader movement and discussions besides editing Wikipedia and its sister projects; this project seeks to introduce the community and raise awareness of important movement topics and vital conversations.

Recognizing the importance of gender diversity and inclusivity, we are committed to implementing initiatives specifically targeted at increasing female participation within our community. As a community, we recognize the importance of partnerships; our primary strategy involves collaborating with academic institutions, GLAM institutions, organizations committed to supporting languages, and existing partners like Wiki World Heritage.

7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.

We are committed to furthering community engagement, building the capacity of community members, and bolstering retention. To achieve this, we are arranging training workshops and Editathons to involve our community actively. These in-person and online events are designed to acquaint participants with Wikimedia projects and provide essential training.

We also look forward to supporting our community members in joining movement discussions and organize a photowalk. With a focus on bridging the gender gap in this proposal, we plan to host workshops focusing on articles featuring underrepresented genders and look forward to partnering with gender-focused groups like Arts and Feminism to immerse our female participants further. The in-person workshops are scheduled across eight events and will take place in Takoradi, Cape Coast, Ajumako and Winneba. Alongside these, we have planned four online events to facilitate project discussions, provide insights into upcoming developments, and offer assistance.

8. Describe your team. Please provide their roles, Wikimedia Usernames and other details. (required) Include more details of the team, including their roles, usernames, Wikimedia group, and whether they are salaried, volunteers, consultants/contractors, etc. Team members involved in the grant application need to be aware of their involvement in the project.

She will provide general support to task leads, assist with co-facilitating training and communication, and contribute to other aspects of the project.

9. Who are the target participants and from which community? How will you engage participants before and during the activities? How will you follow up with participants after the activities? (required)

Our program aims to engage a diverse range of participants, including existing members of the Fante Wikimedia Community, Fante natives, and anyone who can contribute to the project in Fante. We recognize the importance of maintaining communication with our participants and plan to utilize various platforms such as Whatsapp, Telegram, and social media to achieve this.

To ensure continued participation and retention after the project implementation, we have developed a series of strategies. Firstly, we will collect usernames and contact information through feedback forms to keep track of our participants. Secondly, we will offer optional mailing lists and social media groups for those interested in staying updated on future events.

We also plan to identify the most active, knowledgeable, and motivated contributors and invite them to future events, providing them with opportunities to take on leadership roles within the community. Finally, we will add new participants to the existing WhatsApp/Telegram group to encourage continued discussions and collaborations.
