6. What is the change you are trying to bring? What are the main challenges or problems you are trying to solve? Describe this change or challenges, as well as main approaches to achieve it. (required)

The target participants are photographers, culture documentarians within the 9 Niger Delta States (Abia, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Rivers, IMO, Ondo and Bayelsa) in Nigeria who are passionate about storytelling and photography. They are to be trained on how to capture their own stories and upload them on Wiki Commons. The Niger Delta States has rich, great cultural and ancient relics, monuments, foods, and lifestyle. This set of photographers after their training, will go back to their various states and train and galvanize more people who will be contributing to the open-source knowledge of Wikimedia specifically in the Wiki Loves Monuments 2024, We will have a WhatsApp group where we will be having group discussions and that's how we will be following up on them.

July - August - 2024. Team formation, Pre Project Plan Open call for delegates and Volunteers, Logistics plan.

September, 2024. Onsite Capacity Training for 2 days in Port Harcourt, Institutional Visits and Photowalk to PIND Foundation, Ministry of Tourism, Media Houses, Mayor of Port Harcourt, King Kabari, Pleasure Park, and Port Harcourt Museum. Volunteers Training & Onboarding, Printing of Project materials, confirmation of delegates, venue, facilitators, virtual project launch.

Username: @Iwai-Dialax is an experienced Project manager with over 7 years of experience and he is currently serving as the president of the Wiki Niger Delta Network. He is volunteering for this project and will help in the organizational processes

Username: @Kaizenify is a Wikimedia Nigeria Programs Director, an award-winning photographer, a Wikimedia community strategist, and an experienced Wikipedia Editor. He will be coming from Lagos to lecture, educate the photographers, and give more insights on Wiki Commons.

Username: @Umasoyee is a Digital Marketer, Rural Development and Languages. She is a language activist and the project manager of the Speak Ekpeye Fluently Language Initiative.

The project was discussed with the President of the Wiki Niger Delta Network Mr. Michael Diala and Mr. Ayokanmi Oyeyemi who is the Wikimedia Nigerian Programs Director, they are pleased with the program and they saw it as a project that will help project and fill the gap of the rich cultural heritage in the Niger Delta region. The project will also collaborate with the Wiki NIger Delta Network since it's in commemoration of Wiki Loves Monument 2024 and it is therefore expected that all network members participate either virtually or in person. From the project scope, we are having 2 facilitators and 3 volunteers from Wiki Niger Network.

I'm looking forward to delving into the vibrant cultural tapestry found across the various cultures within the Niger Delta region. This exploration holds the promise of enhancing my leadership abilities and proficiency in managing people. It will also provide me with a deeper understanding of the diverse lifestyles, traditions, cuisines, and cultures present in the nine states of the Niger Delta. Furthermore, it will sharpen my project management skills. Importantly, this journey will offer me a unique opportunity to learn alternative approaches to reshaping the narrative of the Niger Delta region through grassroots engagement, knowledge sharing, and community involvement.
