- 1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.
Nigerian pidgin language is commonly used in Nigeria and it aids everyday communication and it is a language that can effectively encourage people to contribute to Wikimedia projects. The Nigerian Pidgin Wikipedia subdomain (pcm.wikipedia.org) is being created after the approval by the Language Committee. As one of the major contributor to this project in incubator, I plan to organise series of trainings and editathons to activate the Nigerian Pidgin Wiktionary in incubator that will help users to have a Wiktionary that will support the Wikipedia and also increase content in the Nigeria Pidgin WIkipedia by translating and writing articles about Lagos.
- 2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.
1. Trainings: I will carry out 3 trainings to make use of Nigerian pidgin dictionaries in developing the Nigerian pidgin wiktionary in incubator. I will then carry out 1 training on contributing to Nigerian Pidgin Wikipedia still incubator with subdomain (pcm.wikipedia.org) being created. This is neccessary to make participants to familiar with contributing to this project.
- 2. Edithathons: I will carry out 3 editathons to ascertain the level of undersatnding and to create contents on the Nigeria pidgin wiktionary. I will carry out 1 editathon on translating and creating contents about Lagos on Nigerian Pidgin Wikipedia. This is necessary to evaluate participants learning.

I will organize 3 series of trainings followed by editathons on the Nigerian Pidgin Wiktionary in incubator. I will also organize 1 training and editathon on Nigerian Pidgin Wikipedia (with an approved subdomain pcm.wikipedia.org) to introduce new participant to Wikipedia and to continue engaging existing editors. The contents to create on Nigerian Pidgin Wikipedia are articles about Lagos.

1. Jonywikis: Project Coordinator. As a Nigerian Pidgin speaker, experienced editor and major contributor to the Nigeria Pidgin Wikipedia in incubator, I will facilitate the event.

Creating contents on Wiktionary and Wikipedia in Nigeria pidgin language will help people that cannot understand English Language very well to take part in contributing to open knowledge.

The target participants are Nigerian Pidgin speakers in Lagos, members of Wikimedians of Lagos User Group and Nigerian Pidgin Wikimedains User Group. Before the event I will create a WhatsApp group to add expected participants. During the event other facilitators will walk around to personally support the participants. After the event, I will be sharing words and articles to create on the whatsappp group. I will post a daily editing tips with screenshots to guide on the tips. Every other weekend, i will organize a google meet to attend to questions that require live explanations.

During the meet-ups before the events I will discuss the policies with expected participants. I will organize a pre-event zoom meeting where we will discuss the importance of sticking to the policy. I will also share a link to the policies with the participants.

I will invite Nigeria pidgin speakers by creating an event digital banner and posting in Facebook groups where Nigerian pidgin is used as means of communication. I have discussed with some members of both groups and I have also informed them on the discussion page. I have discussed with both communities on their WhatsApp group.
