R. If you would like, please share any websites or social media accounts that your group or organization has.

1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

We have noticed that there is little information about Nigerian state legislators in the different Wikipedia project. Most effort had concentrated on providing information about federal legislators which is Senators and Members of the House of Representative. Nigeria has 36 state governments. Each of these state governments have a State governor and a state House of Assembly which is the legislators for the state and make laws for the state and headed by a speaker of the house. Several people had been elected to be members and speakers of these houses of Assembly from 1999 when Nigeria returned to civil rule to date. We have checked and noticed that most of these legislators are not in any Wikipedia projects including Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wiki commons. There has been more emphasis on the government at the federal. We intend to organise edit a thon to create and improve data on these state legislators. We will collaborate with the Conference of Speakers of State Legislators in Nigeria ( https://cssln.org.ng/ ). They are to provide us information to verify data collected about these legislators and facilitate our reaching out to any clerks of state assembly to update our information about existing and former members of the assembly. We will also have a special session with staff of Conference of Speakers of State Legislators of Nigeria and staff of Nasarawa State House of Assembly to introduce them to Wikipedia

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

We will create and improve content about Nigerian state legislators in different arms of Wikipedia. Content will be added and improved in Wikipedia, wikidata and wiki commons. we also want to introduce workers of state legislators to wikipedia so that going forward, content about state lagislators will be easily uploaded to wikipedia. To achieve this, the meetings we will hold with staff of Conference of Speakers will sell the idea to them. Our special session with staff of Conference of Speakers and staff of Nasarawa State House of Assembly will introduce them to Wikipedia and spread the knowledge to the 36 state houses of assembly so that these staff will be creating content about their members every time there is an election and new legislators are elected. within this period, we will collect relevant information about state lagislators from the 36 States of the Federation. the once we cannot collect from them, they will give us a reference to the respective state legislator. with information collected, we will then hold 3 edit a thons wil experienced editors to upload these content to wikipedia. staff of Conference of Speakers and Nasarawa State House of Assembly will also be present to learn from experienced editors on editing wikipedia

3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

1. Meetings: There will be joint meetings with staff of Conference of Speakers of State legislators of Nigeria so as to collect all relevant publications, both hard copies and online publications, about state legislators. We will collect pictures and a reference or lead to the clerk of different houses of assembly as we may need to reach of obtain information

2. We will also have a special session with them to introduce them to Wikipedia and invite them to the edit a thon to be conducted to create these contents.
3. We will hold meetings with the Nasarawa State House of Assembly to collect relevant publications, pictures etc on all their legislators.
4. We will also hold a special session to introduce state of Nasarawa State House of Assembly to Wikipedia
5. We will announce and invite wikimedians within Nasarawa State and Federal Capital Territory to an edit a thon to create and improve contents about Nigerian state legislators in Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons.
6. There will be 3 edit a thon to be held in Mararaba district of Nasarawa State. The 1st Edit a thon will be used to create content in wiki Commons. The 2nd will be used to create content in Wikidata while the 3rd will be used to edit content in Wikipedia. If we are not able to complete creating the contents we planned, participants will be urged to work online until the end of the project.
4. Are your activities part of a Wikimedia movement campaign or event? If so, please select the relevant campaign below. If so, please select all the relevant campaigns from the list below. If "other", please state which.

6.1 In a few sentences, explain how your work is specifically addressing this content gap (or Knowledge inequity) to ensure a greater representation of knowledge.

this project will provide content about majority of Nigerian legislators in wikipedia. what we presently have in wikipedia is information on federal legislators which is Senators and members of the House of Representatives. these people make federal laws. but there are state legislators which make state laws in the 36 states of Nigerian federation. most of them are not in wikipedia.

7. Please state if your proposal includes any of these areas or THEMATIC focus. Select up to THREE that most apply to your work and explain the rationale for identifying these themes.

Diversity

8. Will your work focus on involving participants from any underrepresented communities?

Not applicable

9. Who are the target participants and from which community? How will you engage participants before and during the activities? How will you follow up with participants after the activities?

There will be 2 classes of participants. The first set are already existing editors who are used to contributing in Wikipedia. These are wikipedians who are in Nasarawa State and FCT who will be invited to participate. These people do not need special programmes to urge them to continue participating. The other set are staff of Conference of Speakers and Staff of Nasarawa State House of Assembly. These are new entrances into the Wikipedia family. There first contact will be a special session that will be held for each of the two groups separately in their office premises. These sessions will be an introduction to Wikipedia and to editing. After these sessions, they will be invited to participate in the 3 edit a thon where experienced editors will participate. It is expected that they will learn with these editors. Part of the discussions that will take place with the leadership of Conference of Speakers and Nasarawa House of Assembly is that this project is to commence a long time process of continually adding state legislators to Wikipedia as they are elected hence the need for their staff to become editors. These legislators are obviously so many that all the contents cannot be added within this period. They are to be urged to get all other state houses of assembly to work with wikipedians and continue adding contents. Their staff which will participated in this project will be their first officers to drive this move. We will continue to support them to get more and more their staff to join the movement and contribute. With the continuous involvement of these first participants, they will continue to participate and urge more people to participate.

10. In what ways are you actively seeking to contribute towards creating a safer, supportive, more equitable environment for participants?

participation will be open to all wikipedians within FCT and Nasarawa State. It will be advertised in the sicial media incuding whatsapp group of these people. Also all staff of Conference of Speakers and Nasarawa State House of Assembly will be encourage to participate in the different sessions subject to the approvals of their office

11. Please tell us about how you have let your Wikimedia communities know about the planned activities and this proposal. Use this space to describe the processes you carried out to make the community more involved in planning this proposal. Please link the on-wiki community discussion(s) around the proposals.
