Not applicable

6. What is the change you are trying to bring? What are the main challenges or problems you are trying to solve? Describe this change or challenges, as well as main approaches to achieve it. (required)

Our hope and goal with this project is to get more seniors involved in the creating of Wikipedia (and branch out to the other projects as well). Seniors often do not have very developed internet skills but on the other hand they often have good life-skills and know where to get offline information. They also have more time than working people as well as might feel a need for increased social contact. These factors make them a good target group for Wikipedia training workshops. We already have experience from our previous project Seniori tvoria Wikipédiu (https://sk.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipédia:Seniori_tvoria_Wikipédiu). This time, though, we will offer longer workshops (more hours) with more experienced wikipedians doing the training (4 instead of 2).

7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.

Our plan is to organize a series of 6 workshops for seniors on how to edit Wikipedia. The project would follow a similar outline as the previous one (https://sk.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipédia:Seniori_tvoria_Wikipédiu) Our hope is to partner with a library as we did in the previous Senior project. This way, we would have access to offline and online sources as well as a workshop room with already available computers.

8. Describe your team. Please provide their roles, Wikimedia Usernames and other details. (required) Include more details of the team, including their roles, usernames, Wikimedia group, and whether they are salaried, volunteers, consultants/contractors, etc. Team members involved in the grant application need to be aware of their involvement in the project.

The core team has four people: Jetam2: main organizer Armin: organizer and workshop leader Jaroslava.dollerova: organizer and workshop leader Starekolena: organizer and workshop leader Other members or volunteers of WMSK might help us with some activities.

9. Who are the target participants and from which community? How will you engage participants before and during the activities? How will you follow up with participants after the activities? (required)

Our main target group is seniors of about 60-70 years. They are most likely to reside in Bratislava (or surrounding areas) and have some internet skills. We intend to scout out possibilities for contacting them more closely and directly (not through the library). After the activities we hope to keep them engaged through email and also offer them participation in other activities and membership in our organization.

10. Does your project involve work with children or youth? (required)

No

10.1. Please provide a link to your Youth Safety Policy. (required) If the proposal indicates direct contact with children or youth, you are required to outline compliance with international and local laws for working with children and youth, and provide a youth safety policy aligned with these laws. Read more here.

11. How did you discuss the idea of your project with your community members and/or any relevant groups? Please describe steps taken and provide links to any on-wiki community discussion(s) about the proposal. (required) You need to inform the community and/or group, discuss the project with them, and involve them in planning this proposal. You also need to align the activities with other projects happening in the planned area of implementation to ensure collaboration within the community.

The idea of continuing a senior program has existed since before the previous one (a pilot project in a sense) even actually started. We want to build on it. At WMSK we have a yearly cycle of planning. We started collecting ideas within and outside of our UG. Publically here: (https://sk.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipédia:Kaviareň/Wikimedia_Slovensko#Návrhy_na_rok_2024). After a "blind" call for proposal, we will add the proposals that had been discussed internally (including this proposal) and share them with the public. Ultimately, we will present, discuss and approve them during the annual general meeting at the beginning of the year.

12. Does your proposal aim to work to bridge any of the content knowledge gaps (Knowledge Inequity)? Select one option that most apply to your work. (required)

Age (recency)

13. Does your proposal include any of these areas or thematic focus? Select one option that most applies to your work. (required)

Not applicable

14. Will your work focus on involving participants from any underrepresented communities? Select one option that most apply to your work. (required)

15. In what ways do you think your proposal most contributes to the Movement Strategy 2030 recommendations. Select one that most applies. (required)

Provide for Safety and Inclusion
