5. Are your activities part of a Wikimedia movement campaign, project, or event? If so, please select the relevant project or campaign. (required)

6. What is the change you are trying to bring? What are the main challenges or problems you are trying to solve? Describe this change or challenges, as well as main approaches to achieve it. (required)

The change we are trying to bring is to enhance Wikimedia knowledge and skills among the Tajik community in Tajikistan. By training individuals to become effective Wikipedia trainers, we are going to create a self-sustaining model of knowledge sharing and community engagement. This will help increase the number of active contributors to the Tajik Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects, leading to a richer and more diverse collection of information in the Tajikistan.

The main challenges we face include the lack of awareness and understanding about Wikimedia projects in our community. Many people do not know what Wikimedia is or how they can contribute, which limits participation. Another significant challenge is the limited technical skills among potential contributors. Many people do not have the necessary skills to edit Wikipedia or use other Wikimedia tools effectively, which affects the quality and quantity of contributions. To address these challenges, we plan to hold training workshops where participants can learn about Wikimedia projects and develop the technical skills needed to contribute. By empowering these individuals, we hope they will then teach others in their community, creating a ripple effect of knowledge and engagement.

7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.

For our project, we have planned several key activities:

1. Trainer Training Workshops: We will organize a series of workshops in Dushanbe to train individuals (10 people) on how to become effective Wikipedia trainers. These workshops will cover the basics of Wikimedia projects, editing Wikipedia, using various Wikimedia tools, and understanding the principles of Wikimedia governance, including community guidelines, content policies, and the ethical considerations of contributing to open knowledge platforms.

2. Interactive Sessions with Instructors: We will have three instructors leading the workshops—one from the Tajik community, one from the Russian community, and one from the Persian community. Each instructor will share their unique experiences and expertise, drawing on their background to provide diverse perspectives and techniques.

3. Hands-On Practice: Participants will have opportunities for hands-on practice during the workshops. This will help them apply what they have learned and gain confidence in their new skills.

4. Follow-Up Support: After the workshops, we will offer follow-up support to the trained individuals. This may include additional training sessions, online resources, and a Telegram group for discussing challenges and sharing successes.

5. Community Outreach: We will engage with local communities to spread awareness about Wikimedia projects and the new trainers. This outreach will help to increase participation and build a larger network of contributors.

8. Describe your team. Please provide their roles, Wikimedia Usernames and other details. (required) Include more details of the team, including their roles, usernames, Wikimedia group, and whether they are salaried, volunteers, consultants/contractors, etc. Team members involved in the grant application need to be aware of their involvement in the project.

Our team consists of dedicated individuals with specific roles to ensure the success of this project. Zolfeqar Fatihzadeh and Darafsh are organizers responsible for inviting key speakers and defining workshop topics. Zenhar is the on-site organizer, handling the venue, logistics, and coordinating activities in Tajikistan. All team members are committed volunteers, aware of their roles, and focused on achieving our goals.

9. Who are the target participants and from which community? How will you engage participants before and during the activities? How will you follow up with participants after the activities? (required)

Our target participants are individuals from the Tajik community, including students, educators, and active community members interested in becoming Wikipedia trainers. For the Trainer Training Workshop in Dushanbe, we will engage participants beforehand through social media, community announcements, and collaborations with local educational institutions. During the workshop, we will create an interactive environment with hands-on practice and direct engagement with instructors. After the workshop, we will follow up with participants through online meetings, a dedicated Telegram group, and ongoing support via email and social media, helping them teach others about Wikimedia.

10. Does your project involve work with children or youth? (required)

(required) If the proposal indicates direct contact with children or youth, you are required to outline compliance with international and local laws for working with children and youth, and provide a youth safety policy aligned with these laws.
