- 1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.
The UN declaration on Human Rights state that "Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control." The Wikiforhumanright campaign is aimed at making sure that everyone has access to neutral, fact-based, and current information around our Right to a Healthy Environment - which is a legal right aknowledged by the UN. Everyone everywhere needs access to information about how environment impact their lives. Environmental pollutants can cause health problems like respiratory diseases, heart disease, and some types of cancer. There are also few articcles related to medical/health care topics under Hausa Wikipedia. This project thus is aimed at creating awareness medical articles in Hausa as well as creating awareness by using such articles in places having less access to information.
- 2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.
This project will use Wikipedia articles on the major diseases caused by environmental pollutants - respiratory diseases (asthma), heart diseases and cancer for awareness through the following strategies. a) We will invite a human right expert to sensitise on the major human rights declared by the UN b) We will invite medical experts to create awareness on these diseases c) Wikipedia Articles such as asthma, Cardiovascular diseases, Colorectal cancer, breast cancer, prostrate cancer etc will be promoted in this event d) There will be session for questions and answer relating to these diseases e). we will create a webinar video that will be shared across social media platforms

The above strategies will be achieved through the following actvities a) offline campaign: i. outreach to local communities for sensitisation on rights to healthy environment and medical care ii. In-person event for awareness on Wikipedia articles relating to such topics (and diseases caused by unhealthy environment) b). Online: i. Webinar videos will be created and shared on social media platforms and youtube ii. online awareness training will be organised for delivering information on related topics

I, an experienced and active editor with more than 20,000 edits on Wikipedia mainspace and administrator under Hausa Wikipedia and a new page patroller, will lead the project. Other experienced editors such as Musa Vacho7 (who have organised campaign in breast cancer using Wikipedia articles) will help in making the project a success. User Sanusi Gado will help in arranging and delivering awarenesses and sensitisations.

This work will cover areas having limited access to information, regardless of their sexual orientation using wikipedia articles as a global topics of impact.

The target community are local communities in Katsina state LGA's, such as Batagarawa, Rimi, and Dutsin-ma, Daur and Zango who have limited access to medical care. We will create an in-person awareness in those communities and recruit literate interested people to Wikipedia
