- 1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) also known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to actions to ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity through ending poverty and protect the planet. The Goals were built on the successes of the Millennium Development Goals while including new areas however the goals are interconnected. Our proposal aims at helping global campaign in bridging the SDGs gap that exists on English Wikipedia with a focus on Nigeria content.
- 2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.
We shall organize a physical event with edit-a-thon to launch the event and another physical event to close the event where we will develop activities to engage editors during the global goal. The activities will include bridging the content gap on SDGs impacts in Nigeria through participants from our community, and we will recognize and award prizes to top contributors in the Edit-a-thon.
- 3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?
Learn more about SDGs and its impacts in Nigeria, and organize contest edit-a-thon for the participants during the campaign.
We will also run online posts and design and print flyers . The flyer will announce the meetings and the programme that will be held to introduce participants to Wikipedia. It will also have a short concept note of why the meeting is being held.
The registration will be through a google form. After which they will be added to the WikiActivate Telegram group.
This invitation will provide them the date, time and venue of meet ups via emails, calls and SMS. The trainer will train on Wikipedia generally and then concentrate and introduce the SDGs goals on English Wikipedia. After the training, there will be an edit-a-thon on English Wikipedia which will concentrate on editing existing contents that are align to the SDGs and creating new ones. This edit a thon will also be a competition for participants which will last throughout the programme. We will continue to encourage each other in the Telegram group. We will provide data for participants in the competition.
Wiki Commons we will go for a Photo walk and take some pictures that has to do SDGs, also there will be a training on how to upload and use images on Wiki Commons

Yes, I have experienced Wikimedians from Wikimedia Community User Group Nigeria that have shown interest in collaborating with me in this event.

By use of a competitive Edit-a-thon program, we will edit about the SDGs content with bridging gender gap in particular, and also, we will motivate participants to increase the capacity of contents.

Target participants are Wikimedia volunteers from Nigeria, I will reach them via social media, WhatsApp groups and email as well. In retaining new participants, I will add them in community Telegram group group

We will adhere strictly to the Wikimedia friendly space policy and Universal Code of Conduct and put in place all necessary measures.

I have discussed with all the proposed trainers and they have all agreed to volunteer to conduct the training. I have also informed some communities in the following link: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Wikimedia_User_Group_Nigeria. This is because most of the attendees will largely come from these groups.
