I am a Leader of Global WikiEducation Initiative which has the aim of empowering global communities through equitable access to quality education, the promotion of open knowledge through various wikimedia projects, and the cultivation of collaborative learning environments. The group is now managing various projects in Tanzania such as Kiwix4Schools and with the desire of conducting other wikimedia projects.

The "WikiForHumanRights 2024 Campaign in Tanzania" endeavors to foster greater awareness, understanding, and engagement at the intersection of human rights and sustainability. Our mission is to empower Tanzanian communities by providing accessible, accurate, and localized knowledge on human rights issues, particularly emphasizing their connection to building a sustainable future. Through the promotion of awareness, education, and action, this campaign will be working with Global WikiEducation Initiative, Wikimedians Of Tabora, Wikimedia Community Kilimanjaro and Wikimedia Community User Group Tanzania seeks to inspire individuals to take proactive steps towards promoting human rights, environmental conservation, and sustainable development in Tanzania. By focusing on themes such as the right to a healthy environment, tree planting initiatives, and regional writing contests, we aim to catalyze positive change and encourage active participation in creating a future that upholds both human rights and environmental sustainability.

Our Main Strategies/Approaches; 1. Create local awareness about free accessible knowledge to climate change and sustainability in Tanzania 2. Empower Wikimedia communities in Tanzania to contribute human rights and sustainability content on Wikimedia projects 3. Create knowledge sharing opportunity between participating communities on the campaign

7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. 1. Organize a webinar to share local campaign efforts to build climate change/environment words and knowledge in Swahili in collaboration with 2 local schools, an environmental NGO and community organizations(listed above). This event will also mark the official launch of the 2024 campaign and onset of tree planting activities as part of the WikiForHumanRights 2024 campaign in Tanzania.

2. Organize editathons, photowalks and writing activities(contest) to engage wikimedians from participating communities on Swahili Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons. Participants from different communities would also be mobilized to engage in the capacity building sessions organized globally and regionally to build skills for contributing to the different wikimedia projects of focus.

3. Organize a physical learning and closing event to share the work done, skills acquired and impact created in the community. Awards and certificates would be given to outstanding contributors and partners involved in the campaign.

The target participants are members of Global WIkiEducation Initiative,Wikimedians Of Tabora,Wikimedia Community Kilimanjaro and Wikimedia Community User Group Tanzania, also new editors, and volunteers working and interested in the relevant theme. We will engage with participants via the newly feature of Event Registration with email addresses and Social media groups on it for easy interaction, on meta which will be found in our page [1] as soon as the project is set to kickoff. But we will engage more with our participants through our discussion page [2].

11. How did you discuss the idea of your project with your community members and/or any relevant groups? Firstly, we organized a virtual meeting with key Wikimedia communities in Tanzania, including the Global WikiEducation Initiative, Wikimedians Of Tabora, Wikimedia Community Kilimanjaro, and Wikimedia Community User Group Tanzania. During this meeting, we presented our proposal, discussed the planned activities, and invited feedback and suggestions from community members. Additionally, we published announcements about the campaign and proposal on our telegram channel and the Wikimedia WhatsApp group. These announcements provided information about the campaign objectives, activities, and opportunities for community involvement, encouraging interested individuals to contact us for further details or to join the planning efforts.

Secondly we have let other Wikimedia communities outside of Tanzania know by adding our local activity in the campaign community events table on meta page.
