The "Wiki Local History Campaign" aims to bring about a transformative change by addressing the underrepresentation of local history, landmarks and heritage on Wikimedia platforms. One of the main challenges we aim to overcome is the insufficient documentation of regional histories, landmarks, and notable figures. Many local stories, crucial to understanding a community's identity, remain untold or poorly represented.
Description of Challenges:
1. Historical Gaps: Numerous local histories and landmarks lack comprehensive representation on Wikimedia, resulting in incomplete narratives and limited accessibility for a global audience.
2. Cultural Diversity: Diverse cultural perspectives often go unnoticed, leading to an imbalance in the representation of different communities on Wikimedia projects.
3. Engagement Barriers: Communities may face challenges in actively participating and contributing to Wikimedia due to language barriers, lack of awareness, or limited digital literacy.
Main Approaches to Achieve Change:
1. Community Engagement: Actively involve local communities NGO, organize workshops, edit-a-thon, and outreach programs to encourage participation and share knowledge about Wikimedia platforms.
2. Content Creation: Encourage contributors to create contents by creating and new items and improving the existing ones, ensuring a more inclusive representation of diverse cultures and making information accessible to a broader audience.

The project composed the followings:
Community Workshops: Conduct a 1 day workshop, to educate participants on sharing free knowledge for humanity, especially making their history, culture, and landmarks known and the basics for contributing to Wikimedia projects.
Training Sessions: one day physical training of participants on Wikipedia (editing and content creation with reliable sourcing), Wikidata and Wikimedia commons.
Edit-a-Thon: Organize local and virtual edit-a-thons focused on local history, landmarks and local figures, encouraging participants to contribute content to Wikimedia platforms.
Recognition and Rewards: Implement a recognition system to acknowledge and celebrate contributors, fostering a sense of accomplishment and encouraging sustained involvement in the initiative.
Partnerships:
Media Outlets: Partnering with local media outlets to amplify the reach of promotional activities and create awareness about the importance of sharing local history.
Wikimedia Hausa User group: The language spoken in the targeted area is Hausa, employing them will bring the gap between language barrier.

Huzaifakumo (Project lead): is a dedicated editor that participated in different wikimedia trainings including the "Train the Trainers Wikimedia Training", Northeast Nigeria Edition, He also facilitated a Wikimedia project for the first time "My Ability in Disability Wikimedia training". He was also recognized among the top editors during different Wikimedia trainings including the Wikimedia Promotion in Federal University Kashere, and runner-up during the Wiki Climate Campus Tour (Federal University Kashere). As a seasoned editor with a keen eye for detail and a passion for local history He is responsible for overseeing the entire Wiki Local History Campaign.
MeritKosy: is an experienced Wikimedian who have participated in several Wikimedia trainings and facilitates different successful Wikimedia projects such as Wikimedia Awareness and Training in Federal College of Education (Technical). She is dedicated to contribute for the success of this project.
Gwanki: is a seasoned trainer and skilled organizer who plays a vital role in the development of Wikimedia projects in Northern Nigeria. He facilitated numerous Wikimedia Projects and with his experiences, He'll support the facilitators' team contributing to the project's success.
Yahuzaishat would be the Communication Officer, He has been an experienced Wikimedia editor and one of the dedicated and hard-working editors in the Northeast region who are building their capacity to bridge the gap of experienced facilitators in the region.
